Honestly if you want a long lasting tire, get a set of high tread wear tires.. pilots are softer compound (which is also why they handle so well). High tread wear = longer lasting. But poorer performance. I’ve got coopers on my trucks and corolla. Nothing by praise. I have Michelin primacy mxv4 on my Avalon and they’re at an even 5/32 on all 4 tires at 52k on them.

pilots are performance tires. Wrong tire for wanting longevity.

And never expect factory tires on cars to last long, they purposely put softer tires on new cars to make them drive smoother. 30-35k is the max I see on any stock tire in a normal car unless it’s all highway

I have noticed the way new cars are made it's harder to keep track of tire wear. You don't see them unless turned to the side.

    Still thinking about it.

Just want to give you credit for maintaining her car. I'm doing the same thing. I gave my daughter a 2005 Rav4 when she graduated in 2015. I only see it for services and same as you, I notice things that need attention.

I get an alignment every 10k miles if I'm only driving on the road, and I rotate religiously every 5k miles. Unless your daughter only drives about 6-7k miles a year they aren't being rotated enough, and alignment is probably off due to pot holes and rough roads would be my guess.

Does your daughter drive in AZ all the time too? if so it might be better to get her a summer tire for year round. if the temps don't really go below 50 degrees. In AZ you have such high temps the rubber from an all weather tire will wear faster. It's like using a winter tire in fall and spring months. The rubber cannot deal with that type of heat which causes the premature wear. The hotter it gets the softer the rubber gets. The summer tires can go to a hotter temp before becoming soft. Might show less wear for you

I’ve bought nothing but Michelin’s for my cars. Everything has been good.
Chicks are the worst drivers. Sorry.
She probably turns the wheels while not rolling.

Yep, AZ all the time. Will see how those new Yokohama tires will do. At lease they have warranty for 85000 miles almost double compared to Michelin.
No idea what she does with her car. All l know, I need a hazmat suit to get inside.

No, Toyo and Nitro are sister companies. The Nitto brand is mostly for the "extreme" sizes and designs.

I've had two sets of those tires on my Infiniti, and they've been great. Sounds like a personal problem.

Much more fitting tire for a commuter. Tread wear of 800 means they should last longer than the 500 of the pilots. Those pilots are meant for spirited driving in sports cars. Yoko makes good car tires for the money.

Tell me there isn't an adult somewhere dumb enough to drive on a tire with the steel cord belt showing. God it's scary on the roads. Don't people have to take auto shop or a DMV test to get a license? C'mon America....

Assuming your location is correct and from the look of the tires I’m guessing the AZ heat plays a factor.

I’m also guessing she’s either not doing oil changes or ignoring the techs advise to change the tires when she does.
