I highly doubt they would go 17k out the door. Im hoping for 18500 or 19000 out the door. I really want the truck at this point

I paid 16500 for my 35k 2006 back in Jan of 2011.... and mine is a 4x2 access cab... and that's a good deal due to low mileage... all I can say? good luck walking out the door for that cost.

Edit: noticed its an 09... so not unreasonable... if you can get it for less than 17. you got a good deal for a double cab with decent mileage.

It says this truck has a locking/limited slip differential. Does it actually have this?

I've never even thought about putting cables on my 4wd to make a slightly snowy drive. And I make weekly commutes to Lake Tahoe in the winter for work (30 minute drive in snowy conditions)

before i pull the trigger on this tacoma, do you guys think its a good truck with what it has on it? some of you have said the shell and the fact that its a trd sport long bed makes it pretty valuable. I just want to be sure im happy with it 2 months after i bring it home

The truck does not have a locking differential, it does have a non mechanical limited slip differential. It is actuated by automatically applying the brakes to the wheel that is slipping, essentially trying to mimic what a true mechanical LSD would do.

the dealer is saying the list price plus tax title and license comes out to 22,097. I told him no way and he asked what i want to pay. I told him 18,000 OTD. He said that cant happen because that would mean the truck has to be listed at about 15,500 to get to 18,000 otd. No way its a 15,500 truck. He said he can maybe pull around a grand off for me and put the truck at 21,000. Thoughts?

Although I think $21K is good for OTD, I'd just mess with them some more and and say $20K OTD and I will buy right today and see what they come back with. Doesn't hurt. At the price of $22K, they are selling you the truck at the asking price of $19,998.

Trade in value for that truck is from $15k-$17k. I'm thinking they took it for $15K and I know that dealers want to make a minimum of 20% on top of that so at $18K, they are making that.

You are dreaming if you think you can get that truck for 18 OTD to be honest. Be a little more realistic, because I guarantee you it will sell while you are brain banging yourself over a few grand.

To the OP saying he shouldnt pay more then 17K you need to share some of the stuff you are smoking

I think it's a good deal for the truck.

The OP is probably buying it already if has not done so already. If not, I'm betting that truck will be gone by the end of this week. When I bought a 4Runner, the dealership had a 2008 TRD sport pre-runner with 89K miles that was just traded in. It was still in the back being reconditioned as it needed a new windshield since the old one had a crack, interior cleaned and exterior wash and wax and they were asking $18,500 for it. I was the first to look at it and they would not go any lower on the price. I didn't buy it as I instead got the 4Runner as it only had 59K miles. Whomever looked at it next bought it as the next day it was gone when I picked up my extra key fob. They go that quick. Any trucks in SoCal generally hold a premium. Even POS late 80's to 90's Toyota trucks sell for 2-3x their KBB value here. I know because I was looking for daily driver just a few months ago but settled for an XB instead.

For that price you can get a good 4wd TRD. I have 2 regrets my hole life when buying trucks, 1 not getting 4WD and 2 going cheap and buying a base model. There is always that one time you'll need 4WD.
