:yay:Had these taillights for a while, and finally got around to putting them on my truck. They’re 01-04 blacked out taillights I got around a year back. Found a guy on Instagram with some of these on his 99 Tacoma and he said they worked fine so I finally got around to putting them on the other day. They hook right up to the factory harness and they screw into the factory holes no problem.

Not sure why you want to decrease your visibility personal thing I guess

I am just waiting for my roll of reflective tape to show up

Here they would not pass inspection

Eh if you think about it it actually increases your visablity during the day at least. It’s hard to see a red light light up in a red light housing, especially during the day. It being tinted makes it easier to see in the daylight and well it also looks clean in my opinion. But hey no inspections here so I’m alright

Looks good! I have the same lenses, visibility is no issue as long as your bulbs aren’t super old

Thanks for posting. I was considering putting 01-04 tail lights on my 95 Tacoma but even after multiple confirmations I was not convinced they will look right. I have clear (milky) white/red covers but wanted clear (clear) transparent / red that is available only on 01+ style.

Question: does 01+ lens fit into 95-00 lamp? Or while mounting screws are in the same location the shpe of lens-lamp connecting surface is different? Simply saying can you just swap lenses between years having the original lamp not replaced?

Actually the 01+ lens does fit into the 95-00 lamp, I tried this as a result of me just being lazy and the screws line up in the same spot and everything but I’m not sure why you would do this because a new housing is always better. One defect of using the 01-04 lens and not the housing is that it won’t reflect the same way, and you also have to remove the little plastic piece on the inside of the housing that of which covers the backup light so it only takes up a part of the light. But to answer your question, yes it does, but it probably won’t look the best.

Hey, it’s montana, I got 5% on my two driver and passenger windows and I’ve never gotten pulled over for it, nor my taillights or my blacked out running lights , maybe I’m just lucky or they don’t care. But hey, maybe they’re just scared they won’t be able to catch me.

Also, congrats on getting that feature on TFLT, love your truck!

Thanks for the confirmation. I already rewired lamps to have turn signal at the center and reverse at the top. The insert is already removed. I did that because left reverse bulb is replaced with red and wired as rear fog light (rear fog can't be next to rear marker or stop bulb).

Confusing but sounds good haha. Is this a thing because of laws in Poland or what?

Yes, rear fog is required in Poland. Same thing I had to do on my wife's Nissan Versa Note (swapping left white reverse bulb for red rear fog light). I'd love to go back to stock tail lights in Tacoma but still did not figure out how to add a rear fog lamp that does not look ridiculous.

You could do some led strip of lights at the bottom of your tailgate but not sure if that would look super good.

This is what I mean by rear strip, a tailgate strip on the back of your truck that isn’t too noticeable but acts as a fog light in the rear

Thanks. I looked at this some time ago, but I did not know if it would pass. They used to be anal about that, not at the annual inspection but at road side inspection (where the real money is to be taken from drivers). Now more and more cars are coming with fancy LED lighting from the factory, so maybe it will pass, but I would need to check first. The official regulations are talking about three possibilities for rear fog light:
    1. One on the driver side
    2. Two symmetrical - one on driver side, one on passenger side
    3. One at the center

I don't know if full width LED bar can be qualified as 2 or 3.:notsure:

    Probably 2.

Also you may be able to somehow make it so your tailgate hatch has a red light on it, or even better, get two more license plate lights, like these
    https://www.amazon.com/LED-Certified-Waterproof-Convenience-Courtesy/dp/B0722YHMVL/
and put them facing the back instead of your license plate and keep your license plate lights. Also cover them with red flim. Just an idea
