Just received some Bilstein 6112 and noticed they come with 11 circlips now instead of 6. The retailer has informed me that Bilstein just made these changes and these new versions will supersede the previous version with 6 circlips. So now if you want a 2” lift, you have to have the circlips set to 11/9. Which sucks because when I ordered these preassembled, I requested a 6/5 circlip setting. With these changes, it would’ve gave me a 0.4” lift lol.

was anyone aware of these changes?

interesting, haven't seen that - I have some inbound due tomorrow, but unassembled. you'd think your retailer who assembled would have noticed and checked with you... who'd you buy from?

Let me know if you get the new version with the 11 circlips. I spoke to the retailer, Wheeler, and they offered to get a shipping label out to me so I can send them back and have them adjust it for me or take a small refund and have a local shop adjust them. How much would a local charge shop? I can't imagine it being too much. Would hate to have to send them back and give fedex/ups/usps or whoever a few more chances to mishandle my package.

will do, idk cost but shouldn't take shop with good spring press more than 30 minutes to disassemble and reassemble, so maybe $50? just a WAG

OP can you provide the Bilstein P/N you received (not the vendor #)? I am expecting 47-234413, should arrive later today. Bilstein-US posted install instuctions still show 6 circlip slots. Plus its weird that they would have a Tacoma specific product with multiple slot configurations that should not be used on any Tacoma, that makes no sense - wondering if they are reacting to supply chain issues in a sketchy way. If you change thread title to something like '11 slot Bilstein 6112' your thread will gain traction, right now looks like just another 6112 comment. good luck!

The part number my set has is 24-309981. I found someone else on Reddit that received the same set as me and he said that he reached out to Bilstein directly and the Bilstein product management team informed him that these are the new shocks for the 3rd gen Tacoma. They were confused as well but said he got them before their official release which is why it's not in their online catalog yet. So it seems like these will be the new 6112s going forward.

I think the new ones look better actually (both look sweet) - probably just Bilstein trying to compete with the continuous ride height variability provided by threaded coil over bodies. more, slots, more granular ride height selection, all goodness, assuming they are otherwise the same, which seems likely.

How did Wheeler not notice this change and call you and ask what new setting you wanted to use?

Also, where on Wheelers do you specify the setting you want? I only see them ask if you want it assembled or not and if you want to change springs. I don't see anywhere to put in circlip settings?

Wheeler’s is small. I’m shocked they didn’t pause and think, man Bilstein has changed up the clip settings, let’s find out how OP wants these set or let’s figure out which setting is closest to the lift setting of the previous version.

RIGHT?!?! They should have called to let me know of the changes and ask what I wanted OR just use their intuition and see I requested a 5/6 circlip setting for a 2" lift so set the new Bilsteins to the 2" setting. But oh well, I have been working them to get the issue resolved. They are very helpful and seem like some cool dudes.

When you place an order, during checkout there is a place for notes/comments. You would input your preferred circlip settings there.

Going through this right now too. I ordered on 4/9 and got them on 4/25. I unboxed them and was surprised to find the 11 Clip 6112 shocks. They were also both assembled on the 11th clip (driver and passenger). Passenger side is supposed to be set to clip # 9 per Bilstein. Wheeler's is in the process of getting me a return label so they can rework the shock for me. Stinks that is was wrong, but I am glad they are owning it and going to fix it. Very little information out there on this change. I am pretty sure the update was so that Bilstein could supply one shock for both Tacoma and 4Runner applications.

No difference except for fine adjusting of lift height as you all know happy Friday smoke and have a beer

When I order my 6112’s , I thought the highest setting was 6 ? Does the newer 6112 now come with 11 settings? As shown?
How many setting did the older 6112 had?
    Aloha,

Dude it takes like 5 minutes to change the circlips on each side. While you're installing them, put it in, put the bottom bolt in and jack it up under the LCA. When it's compressed, pull the center nut on the top of the hat. Slowly lower the jack and then you can move the clip down with a pair of pliers.

Reviving this thread as I’ve just received my set of 6112’s last week and are the 11 setting version. Have them set to 11/9 paired with a 1.5” Icon AAL out back and it sits great. Was confused at first as I was also expecting the 6 notch but my shop took care of the settings no issue.

On that note the ride quality over stock is awesome. No harm no foul I guess.
