Hi guys, im back at it again. After a horrible experience at a dealer, i walked out (without KO'ing the rep). Now, Im undecided if I should buy a new 14 Reg cab, 4cyl, 4wd, auto -or- a 12 Access Cab w 6cyl, 4wd, auto. Price range about the same @ $22k plus fees. I plan on keeping truck for at least 4-5 yrs, maybe more. Lets hear your thoughts on which one and why! -thanks

V6. IMO There is very little point to the 4cyl motor on these 4x4's. Fuel economy is a negligible difference, and you'll appreciate the extra ponies under the hood every day you drive it.

If the price is the same, not sure why you would go with a Reg cab. I do love Reg cab Taco's, but some of the appeal is the lower price. Maybe if you're into hardcore off-roading where a short wheelbase may be preferable, I could see the advantage, but for everyday usage, I would go AC.

AC for sure, The extra space to leave stuff locked up is perfect.

Go for the new reg cab. The 2.7 is bulletproof and I love the crank windows.

    +1 on the AC.

I've had both - the bench in the RC is a back killer and the extra space in the AC is a must if want to carry anything inside the truck.

AC +5 I'd rather have the extra room to strwch out than a regular cabs small space.

I say ac, I have a 96 regular cab and if I could change one thing about it, it would be more cab room. But then again it being used you don't know if it eas abused. Oh yea, and a v; would be nice too.

I had a 2012 i4 and traded for a 2013 V6. Go with the 6 if you plan on using your truck as a truck.

The I-4 has bucket seats with the auto....fairly comfy. It gets better milage, the spark plugs are good for 115,000 miles, easier to park, longer warranty, etc. They are both good...I'm happy with my 1-4

I was helping a friend source a Tacoma last month and to my knowledge, they no longer offer the regular cab in 4x4 for 2014. could be wrong but this is what i read. Also, could not find one within 1000 mile of the PNW.

I vote the bigger cab...always. You can always use more cab space.

My AC with 4cyl / 5 speed was OK, but you had to drive it a little more defensively - not much reserve power to get you out of trouble. My current V6 is point and shoot....

Unless it's changed, the auto with the 4cyl is a 4 speed - not as good for mpg or drivability as the 5 speed.

Get the v6 5 speed auto! You will like the transmission and engine combo it is reliable and pretty smooth to drive.
