NEW 16-23 Morimoto XB Evo Headlights are here!

Got my EVO Hybrid set installed, paired with Diodide Dynamica Elite Series Yellow Fogs. Adjusted them since they looked to be aimed low. Going to monitor and adjust them accordingly. Overall I'm happy with the set lights.

Talk about fast delivery. Got’em today. Even came with a free 3rd brake light assy. Thanks to Hotshot for great service.

Ended up contacting Morimoto about warranty on the lights, thanks for suggesting that @Technique

They sent new Evo's, and they covered both the shipping to me and the return postage so that was pretty cool. Technically they were replaced due to the lens getting cloudy, but whatever made it happen, right?

Lights are pretty great, the lowbeam is significantly better than the old ones. Not a super big fan of the fuse tap, but it is what it is on that front. The fitment on the driver side is spot on. The passenger side is a bit better than the old ones I guess, so maybe it's just my truck and not the lights so much. But they did about all I could have asked to fix the first set problems, and at almost 3 years after purchase and a set of lights they charge almost $500 more than I paid I'm pretty happy.

 

I just got my replacement evos and swapped them out last night. Was talking to both morimoto and trs about my hyperflash issue for a while now. Trs sent me new resistors to try out, which did not correct the issue. So morimoto went ahead with sending new ones and rma'd my other ones today.

So far so good!! Really not sure what was causing the hyperflash but it seems to be fixed!! I thought it was due to the heat with temps increasing here in az (since i installed them around wintertime) and the worsening progression of it over time SEEMED to correlate, but its 118° today (was 120 a bit ago) and no issues driving around!!

 

Has anyone had an issue with the high beam light not turning on? I installed the headlights and everything was working until I swapped out the drivers. Once I installed the super chargers the high beam light on the drivers side went out. I checked the wire harness and everything seems fine. Not sure what else to check, might remove the super charges to see if that helps.

 

The regular driver still works ok? If so, maybe the driver is defect Plz check with the regular driver and report the observation to CS

 

Yeah I’ll try that next, hopefully it is just the driver. I will keep you posted!

 

I have the super chargers and no issues with hi/lo beam.

 

Update

I went ahead and swapped out the driver side headlight back to the black driver and it fixed the issue. The super charger driver was what was causing the issue, Incase anyone is having a similar issue. I wonder if I can get the super charger swapped out for a new one, and if so will Morimoto need both of the drivers?

 

Im sure they will. Contact them and explain the situation.

 

How old are they? For what you (we) paid for them, I certainly hope they would!

 

Update

I got in touch with Morimoto and explained to them my situation. They went ahead and warrantied the drivers no questions asked. I got the drivers already and going to send the bad ones back to them. Just want to say that they have excellent customer service, products and warranty! Will continue to use their products!

 

Welp, im here to report that my warranty replacements I installed July 14th, are hyperflashing yet again... sigh..
Worked perfect for a while. Got a couple random left side hyperflashes recently. And now its happening more often. I suspect the right side will follow soon enough. Which is exactly how it happened last time. Got progressively worse over time..


At a loss as to how to proceed now..
Trying to install additional resistors myself maybe? Idk.. I'm pretty annoyed now..

Just passing through here on the forum...as much as I like the new Evo headlights, what is that bumper fab/delete setup?? That's super trim and clean even with that light bar!

I want one for my street truck without the openings for winch & light bar now. Not even kidding.
