My vote is silver. Black vehicles are wicked hot in the summer. If you want red, then I'd make the salescreature look harder. Mine was sitting on the lot (no you cannot have it) ;)

Go with silver, bro. You'll be washing the black one all the time. Or maybe you won't. But it will be dirty all the time. I used to own a dark blue one, black's even worse. My silver taco hides dirt, but I wash it every now and then.

If you really want red, then press the dealer to get you one. They will try hard to sell you one in stock, it's their job and will even change your salesman if the one you are working with can't close the deal on a stock one. If that is the dealership you want to work with then insist on red and they will get it or go to another dealership. Don't settle! I wasn't hard pressed when I bought mine so I took my time till I found it, no one out here had the black double cab prerunner sport longbed, they all had the shortbeds, but I wanted the long bed, finally found it and was in and out of the dealership in 30 minutes. Black is a bitch to keep clean and scrathes show up like crazy but once mine is lifted and fiberglass fenders are on it's going flat black so it doesn't matter.

If you have the time to wait, and money to pay MSRP or very close to it, then dig down into your patience pool and have the dealer order the exact truck you want in the color you want. But if either time or money is a factor, IMO silver is the better choice for the reasons stated here.

From my own experience, I wanted Speedway Blue, dealer had one in the model I wanted, but wouldn't negotiate price to my liking. They're the only "stealer" errrr...dealer in town, so they have no competition. Ended up buying a used 2007 in silver from a used car outfit 3.5 hours south. BTW, my truck was leased to a company in Oregon as a fleet vehicle and then picked up at auction by the outfit I bought it from, according to the carfax. So the guy might be telling the truth with regards to color.

I'm very happy with the silver, it does everything the folks here are saying with regards to dirt and scratches.

And that's my two cents...Where did I start...oh yeah SILVER! Sorry for the ramble.

Silver! Black trucks look great but they are a huge pain in the ass to keep looking good. My last truck was black and it showed everything. Every bit of dirt and every scratch. It drove me nuts.

    This.

I had a black Bronco which looked awesome when cleaned and polished... but the maintenance to keep it that way was beyond my commitment. When it was dirty, it looked really dirty....

I have a silver Subaru and it really hides the dirt well. The only downside to that is after I spent a day washing, claying, polishing and dressing, the car barely looked any different. Yeah, she looked beautiful but it wasn't shocking you like a black vehicle does when all purdied up.

btw - that black truck just above ^ is fucking badass looking

    I have the 2010 Black 2wd 5 lug 2.7L 5-spd access cab. I love it.

I drive it to and park it in a mud pit in the wet seasons and dust bowl in the summer. I wash it once every other week and have no problems with scratches but to me if you wanted a pickup then you wanted it to do work and scratches and a show finish were not a priority anyway.

Aside from all that, you mentioned ur salesman said something about colors. My buddy whom I've known for 28 yrs sold me mine. They can get any color you want but they have to trade with other dealers to make it happen. It all depends on how much work they want to do to sell you what is not already on the lot.

So your salesman is full of it my friend.

I've got a black '09. Its true about the cleaning and scratches. It gets tiresome. I'm cleaning her once a week, and after three days, she already looks dirty again. But I still wouldnt trade her for the world cuz when she is clean, she looks AMAZING.

So if you're a guy who can keep up with religious cleaning, I'd say go black.

If you are a member of costco you should check out their auto buying program. That's who I got my truck. I got my access cab in white because I wanted it in white, but they could've gotten me any color I want. Plus there is no "dealing" with the car salesman. It's hassel free and really easy. Check out their website...
