Nice Tacoma! To bad about the 3z. I wanted a 3z before I inherited my 5lug and I'm glad I have my 5lug now, I will never go back to driving a car. Well, the day I can afford a weekend car it will be a pearl white 370z. And thanks for that plasti-dip DYI, freaking awesome! I'm going to Home Depot tomorrow!

Sorry, can't help you there. Check out the Toyota website. They might have some info for you.

Thanks. What city might that be?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

Yeah, the Z was great. It was a blast to drive. Unfortunately, it came to a point where I needed more room. I was thinking about picking up a beater truck and keeping the Z, but didn't see the point of having 2 cars at the moment. Good luck getting your 370z. You're welcome on the DIY.

    gwai lo,

Need a gut check on this: Do you think plasti-dip would work on my chrome grill surround? I'm basically looking at getting rid of the chrome on my truck. I've been considering buying a 2011 color matched grill, but this plasti-dip might be the way to go. My truck is silver, so right now I've got it in mind to go black on the badges and grill. What do you think?

Appreciate your time and your passing on the DIY link.

    Thanks, Rob

I think it would work. The plasti-dip would definately stick to the grill with no problems. But I don't know how you're gonna patch the holes on and between the grill to prevent overspray...unless you were thinking about taking the grill off when spraying which would make more sense.

Also keep in mind that plasti-dip does not leave a perfectly smooth and glossy finish. I don't know what to compare it to, but the finish is pretty rough. I personally wouldn't use it on any other parts on my car other than the emblems because the rough finish would stick out like an eyesore imo. I have seen people do it to their rims, though. It just all comes down to personal preference. But like I said earlier, the plasti-dip can be easily removed. If you end up not liking the look, you're just out $7 and some of your time.

Thanks...I'd remove the grill to spray it. I think I'm gonna do the badges first, then I'll have an idea of the texture (rough) finish to base my decision on trying it on the grill. Thanks again and I hope you're enjoying your new truck. Rep'd!

No worries. If you end up doing your grill please post some pics. I want to see how it comes out.

I did the plasti-dipped DYI and it came out perfect. Make sure to over spray so that it builds a thick surface; that way when it comes time to peel away everything will come off in one step. I made the mistake of giving light coats the first time and when I peeled away the plasti-dip it didn't peel away properly. The next day I re-did the emblems, but with thicker coats and that did the job.
