    Hey guys,

First post on these forums. I'm in Colorado and just picked up 2015 Double Cab Short Bed TRD Off-Road beast with Leer camper shell and running boards. I'm getting my rack setup for the winter season and already made a trip in the snow to the mountains this last weekend to test out the new ride.

Let me know what you think! If you have any questions about the 2015, I'd be glad to try and answer them for ya.

@ Matt, I just bought a 2015 TRD sport V6, once I took the truck home and drove it for the first month and I was expecting more power. I read all the reviews and they all say the V6 has more than enough power, and this is from someone coming from a 96 rav4 4cy. Do you have the same problem? I was thinking of taking it back to the dealer and asking them to check everything out. The trany also shifts at super low RPMs 1.2k -2k, so maybe this is the problem? Some times I have trouble reaching 80mph on the Hwy and that's almost flooring it. If you or anyone has had this problem with the 2015 please let me know. thanks

My V6 does feel a little under-powered as well. I noticed it struggles going up Loveland Pass here in Colorado with humans in the cab and dogs in the bed and gear up top. It does struggle to get to 80 mph. Of course being that I picked up the vehicle with 15 miles on the odometer, I'm not trying to redline the sucker just yet but still trying to drive it like I normally would to break in the engine. I thought the 2015 was going to have a 4.6L in it, but it only had a 4.0. The shift points seem accurate to give the truck the MPG that Toyota advertises. It's not a sports car, but it noticeably doesn't have the HP that the 5.7L Tundra does. However, with the price of gas I'll take the Taco over the Tundra at this point.

The power of the engine of the Tacoma we got is set to favor the lower gearing. It can pull trailers and haul stuff...and for off-roading it has decent 4L settings for a truck. For me, this is what I paid for, as you aren't going to get that in a sports car. The tradeoff of course is that without a slightly larger engine you give up acceleration performance and high-end speed.

Definitely let me know what your dealer says when you take it in, or you are able to do any changes to your truck to correct this.
