In the picture where the hood is open beside fresh air intake there are chalk mark arrows pointing to the spot where leak supposedly is located. Unreal

Did you call Toyota Corporate to open up a case? (If that's what you call it)

I would think it would be a good idea. Just let them know that you have a concern since this "problem" isn't easily fixed. You also should be thinking how this issue will affect your truck long term.

At the very least an extended warranty might be offered.

It's possible that this problem could lead to a buy back/ lemon law case. Might be helpful to keep good written records of all the phone calls (time, name, what was said) and other communication.

    Just my $.02.

Again, hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction.

The body shop still has truck . Says the passenger fender has to be removed to find the leak. Earliest I could hope to see this truck again would be Thursday . Thats 18 days. Just told toyota experience advisor I want a new truck. Didn't go over so well. Toyota still will not authorize a new carpet kit.

    This is all fact
saw another users post about getting hit with legal stuff over posting about a bad experience with a bodyshop. That's just crazy. Th is is not a slam on the shop that's working on my truck ,they are doing all they can as is the local toyota dealer. Corporate is the problem.
Not happy about any of this . Think toyota should trade me a new vehicle at no extra cost to me since they have now cost me time, money and aggravation.
Just this morning I had to hire a truck and trailer to move my tractor to a job . Over the weekend I needed to move things with a trailer and had to rent a van. Can't haul with rental vehicle. Rant over

Thanks! I thought I was going a bit mental not being able to see the chalk.

Given that it looks like a seam overlap, why remove the fender? Inject some sealant in and around there, test it, and be done?

That doesn't solve the other problem(s), the carpet and anything else that might get screwed up from this.

I think you have a right to see this "hole" and be able to get an explanation how they intend to repair it, The carpet itself is 100% nylon, if dried out properly, will not smell, the cotton fiber" Jute " lining behind it must be throne away, that is what stinks, and must be replaced completely. this is a time consuming job and could easily take two weeks to do properly .
take pictures, and ask questions, your Dealer is if he expects Toyota to pay for this repair.
    Good Luck

Explain to them the issues with "mold remediation" and the fact that it can lead to serious helth issues. Then let them know you have spoken to several attorneys and consumer reporters in you local tv media, and they are very interested in how this turns out. That's how I did it with Nissan on my 2016 Rouge when it had an interior leak. The smell was so bad you couldn't drive it. After 3 weeks and they told me the best they could do was clean it and replaced carpet, I said no, not without a complete mold remediation and by a certified specialist. After a few more phone calls they agreed to the buy back and sold me the next higher trim level for the same price to avoid bad press. Will it work in your case? who knows, but its worth a try.

Op, just wait to pass judgement till you get it back. Let them at least try to fix whatever the issue may be.

Did you open a case with Toyota corp on this cluster? It's probably a clogged AC drain or something but tearing your truck up like this is nuts.

I have called toyota corp. Th ey still will not authorize carpet or jute lining replacement.
The body shop is having to take the front right quarter panel off now. They will proceed removing it Monday and the panels under qtr panel will be removed and welded. Last update late this afternoon.
I told the lady at Corp the only way to make me happy is a new truck that hasn't devalued by being torn apart. She didn't think that was funny .

Are they not authorizing new carpet because they have not found the source of the leak yet or do they just not want to replace it at all?

That sucks, my experience with dealers and trying to get them to do the right thing is nearly impossible. They don’t really care about the customer once you’ve bought the truck. it’s your problem not theirs, is how dealers think.
