New 2018 problem

    Maybe, but if it is the driver side clip, it is actually a "safety" matter.

    After you inspect all the work that was done, as long as it is all satisfactory, you might mention you don't feel comfortable driving without the clip.

    If it was me, I would try and get the platinum warranty, because possible premature failure of components that were handled at the body shop.

    That and diminished resale value.

    Hope it all works out for you.

    Did not go to the dealership . Got an email from service manager that the clips would be here monday or posibly Tuesday. I told him I would not pick up my truck till it's completed and they would also have to get my window retinted since they broke the windshield . .
    I called the tint shop that they are sending it to and they said it could not be done till tuesday. Tuesday is my 30th day of this hell.

    dont accept it until “everything” is done and completed.....DO NOT agree to accept it and then bring it back for the finishing touches.....thats bullshit.....and the clock is running......if you take it, the clock resets.....also, MAKE them prove to you the carpet and padding was replaced....if you don’t do it, they will claim you fucked it up.....if they do, show them the paint you sprayed on it....wish I was there to see the look on their face when you find out they did not change it......

    Tom Trout service manager just called me to say the truck is done but the window tint won't be replaced till Monday so bring it back to us then and we installed the mat clips today after he says they couldn't do that till nextweek.
    I told him that's NOT acceptable and I will not pick it up till it's completed.
    He says in toyotas eyes it's done and I need to give back the rental because they won't pay for it anymore . Now I'm carless.
    I also say the paper work needs to show a start date of Monday may 7th at 8am till it's finished. He says it was driveable yesterday so that is what the paperwork says .
    Will not buy another toypta . Have now contacted an attorney

    dont do it.....make them fix everything before you take it back.....he is just trying to bullshit you......keep the rental until the car is completely finished.....refuse to return car until yours is fixed and ALL paperwork is correct with correct dates

    BTW: tell him in your eyes, it is not complete....in your attorneys eyes its not complete.

    You should not have given the rental back,they will now take their sweet time finishing your truck,and you are out of the gas money taking your truck back and forth for them too finish the job.

    He ( service manager@toyota cleveland tn)tom trout said I would have to pay for the rental after today so I needed to let it go . I wasn't going to pay for it .
    Tina at toyota cuatomer experience said he is wrong and the truck is not finished till everything is completed. This is not over. If I end up not getting the paper work that says Monday may 7th at 8am till whenever it's actually done I will proceed with an attorney. Spoke at length to one today . Service manager has apparently put yesterday as the finish date for the truck.

    i would get Tina to call the dealer and demand they give you a rental car until your is complete......i would have never turned in the car......you could have fought that out when you picked up the car.......she also needs to make clear that the paper works has the correct dates on it....the dealer is trying to set up a 30 lemon law denial........short of that, get your attorney heavily involved

    Good luck with this ordeal. I have no experience and nothing to offer you in your situation. I subscribed to the thread and have read every post. I feel for you and all the run-around you have received. This gives Toyota and especially the dealership a black-eye. I am hoping you can sort it out to get the truck replaced... but it seems they are going to fight you tooth and nail all the way.

    I just searched on the dealership- I wonder if it would help to have all of us here on TW write in to the GM or even Toyota Corp. on your behalf?

    Hey, at this point what can it hurt? Thanks for the offer.
    I have tried to post the facts without much interjection of emotion. It's tough not to be ticked off though .
    It's been a difficult situation that I never expected from toyota .
    A good friend said Tom trout was great to deal with , told my friend that he didn't know him as well as I do now .
    Mr trout said he didn't know anything about time lines associatedwith the lemon law and he certainly wasn't trying to fix the date on the paper work . However they have my completion date as last Thursday evening at 519pm. 9 minutes before they go home . When I told trout I couldn't pick it up because james Fulton said they were closing before I could get there .Mr trout said oh that's just james hebdidnt known we could have put the keys in a lock box and u could have gotten it after hours . Way to throw your employee under the proverbial bus.

    This was Tuesday around 3pm . It was still here Wednesday night not touched . Per body shop it was sent to toyota at 12 noon Thursday and James Fulton from toyota told me it would be 3 business days from the time they got it back from body before they would have it completed ( early in the process )
    so 5 hours including lunch they "had it ready" at 519 pm Thursday exactly 11 minutes from closing and no they wouldn't let me pick it up but it was missing floor mat clips they said would take a week or so to come in and my window tint from my original window they broke.
    The attorney I talked to suggests to twitter this to toyota corp and the dealer .

    If you Google Earth toyota cleveland you will see its on a dead end road. At the entrance is a gas station and a vacant lot with some construction trucks .
    The vacant lot belongs to a family friend . I can forsee this truck sitting on that lot with a very large sign and a link to this thread.
    Well as a last resort

    That really sucks! I was pissed because I lost mine for 4 days because it had the hood replaced due to broken support attachments under the hood! I can't believe what you have to go through!!! That really sucks! You have every right to be pissed!

    Well, not good news now Tina @ customer service now agrees with Tom trout that the truck was finished Thursday at 519 pm when I couldn't pick the truck up because the dealership was closing in ten minutes .
    Nor were the mat clips installed till late Friday afternoon and the window tint is still not replaced.
