Well on Friday night I picked up my very first Tacoma and drove it home from the dealer: a 2018 TRD OR DCSB 4x4 in Quicksand. I love it.
Yesterday morning I decided to turn on my wipers and wipe the dew off the windshield before driving to work, and to my surprise, nothing happened. I’ve had 3 friends look at it to make sure I’m not just an idiot who doesn’t know how to use wipers (I was hoping I was) but my wipers just don’t work. Calling the dealer first thing this morning and giving them an earful.

This is my first Toyota, and I am really hoping this is just a freak occurrence.

Has anyone had similar issues with brand new Tacoma’s?

That's a strange one. Have you checked the fuse?

Are they moving but not wiping the water off? Or not moving at all?

Sounds like a missing or busted fuse is your culprit. Things happen, just take it to the dealer and be understanding but firm about it and they will fix it up in no time, it cant be very complicated since the motors and wiring and fuses are all located right in the top of the engine bay

I popped the hood, but in all honestly I wasn’t about to open anything up considering it’s brand new.

Totally get that dude and I don't blame you. For what we paid for these trucks it's there job to at least deliver it in working condition. Shit breaks over time but it should work right now, I'd take it back to the dealership too if I were you!

That’s the plan. I’m a little pissed, hoping it’s just a random fault and not a representation of the rest of the truck.

Wow, sucks especially from a brand new vehicle, but I am sure the dealer will fix it. My little story - When I first got my CR-V, brandy NEW, the windshield washer motor would not work. Took it to the dealer, and they said someone had backed into me causing the motor to fail. They fixed as "good intention" and I did have about a ~1" scratch on the lower right front bumper where I guess someone bumped me in a parking lot. Anyway, this did not give me any confidence in a brandy new vehicle. Anyhoo, I hated that damn thing so I traded it after a few years to my Taco.

My washer spray wasn't working when I first got my truck. So, I pulled a little bit harder a few times. Now they work fine. LOL!

take to the dealer, have them fix it under warranty, maybe they will give you an extended Platinum warranty as a bonus for pain and suffering

By chance was the windshield frozen when you turned on your wipers? Maybe the wipearsenal were frozen to the windshield and blew a fuse.

It's probably a 5 minute fix. If he is lucky they will offer him coffee and a donut while he is there. Don't get his hopes up.

    It’s going to be either:

This is it. You had your issue upfront, easy fix, nothing more

    Or

This is the first of annoying little issues.

Good luck and may the forces be with you!

If the wipers still dont work, get some sliders and armor up and take it crawling. The trail jarring will fix the loose connection and make the wipers work just fine :)

@Glockzilla, sorry to hear about your issue. I have the same truck in Black. Picked it up in February. No initial quality issues. Everything worked fine. Hope the dealer resolves your issue quickly and after this you are thrilled with your purchase. I love mine.

Im sure youre plenty compitant, but just to make sure, you tried moving the stalk up and down? Turning the intermintant dial won't do anything if it's not in the on position.

I'm sure it's just a fuse, those electric windshield motors are fairly robust. If it's something complicated where they need to keep the truck you should request a loaner as it is a safety issue.
