Below is from another post. I am looking for good options. This is my first Taco and 9th Toyota 4x4.

I want to change the stance!

I bought the Pro for several reasons... From personal experience, it’s easier to cover your total loss in an accident when the MSRP is higher. (Here comes the hate) I had a very nice SC Tundra loaded with mods, etc. it was the SR5 upgraded to better than a PRO and I had to fight tooth and nail for 5 months to get my total comp of ~65k. Keep your receipts! (My shuttle driver totaled it while moving it down river on one of my drift boat fishing trips) I recently picked up my VDBTRDPRO and am looking to remove the TRD PRO shocks and replace with OME BP-51’s (had them before and they worked great on my former ‘14 FJ.). I am also planning on getting gussets (destroyed a spindle on my first FJ off roading in OR) and maybe the CMC too.

3 questions, as this is my first Taco.

    1. Spacers/lift? This would save money and meet the lift aesthetics I like with bigger tires AND use the PRO suspension for 30 - 40k of driving. (I am aware of the potential (slim) dangers but also have a well equipped FJ for the heavy off roading) White Knuckle Off Road Rock Rails

    2. OME BP-51 w/285-75-16, gussets, CMC, White Knuckle Off Road Rock Rails

    3. BDS 6” with Fox set up? gussets, CMC, White Knuckle Off Road Rock Rails

I love the truck interior, stereo, crawl (had before in ‘14 FJ w/BP-51), motor, snorkel, cordless charge, etc... The stance is killing me. I have a 4” with 35’s on my FJ and recently traded my Tundra with 40’s and a Bullet Proof 12”. (Fun but stupid set up! USELESS... it sat it in the driveway more often than not and sucked for any real off roading (COULD NOT FIT IN THE FORESTS OF THE PNW)

Thanks and let the bashing begin!

Why’d you get a pro only to want to lift it? The suspension on it is the only thing different than a TRDOR.

First off, not true. You have the skids, rims, tires, leather, fogs, air intake, exhaust, all different from the TRD off road.

Second though, I agree, all of those are options on the offroad and the big selling feature is the suspension.

    It's silly.

I modded my pro. Let the haters hate. I agree with option #2. Dont ruin it with a 6in lift because you can never go back

If you could adjust the preload and change the spring on the stock shocks, I wouldn't have ordered Fox 2.5 w adj res, but I wanted those options for my heavy mods....that I never thought I'd be doing.

The dealer actually sent his pro to another dealer in Texas in trade for the quicksand TRDOR I wanted.

I could have easily went with the pro. But I wanted adjustable coils and knowing I did it myself.
