This is correct. I'm curious to see the innards of the new mirrors and how the geometry might affect @MESO's puddle pods. Might need a new version for 3.5 gen

Bartact Seat Covers, Cali Raised LED molle bed system, radio knobs and Subaru Tweeters, OCD interior parts, OEM Exhaust tip, dash cam, hood protector, various theft deterrent items. Still a WIP
People had kids to do that for them plus all the other "chores" that the parents didn't want to do.

The only thing that sounds useful of the features to me is remote connect, and $80 a year is a no for me... I hate that subscription features are required for a car that has the capabilities built into the wiring.

Also $80 a year for safety connect... I mean I wouldn't use it anyway but $80 for a strictly safety feature doesn't sit right with me.

Who is paying for Scout GPS on a vehicle that has carplay / android auto???????

I got my aftermarket Kenwood DMX905S with the Maestro RR and everything for $650 and did the install myself. Keeps everything except the factory mic and has wireless Android Auto and wired Apple Carplay. I am waiting for my TRD Pro grill to come in then I'll wire up my front camera which I have my "Mode" button on the steering wheel mapped to activate the front camera on demand.

Looks good! I went with a different head unit but same end result. What is the benefit of using the Maestro vs. another interfacing system?

Honestly just makes everything easier to program, at least in my experience. I can custom program all of the steering wheel controls and it interfaces with OBD to display tire pressure, check engine light codes, etc. I'm not sure if that is something they all can do?

Sounds like you get some extra information over the Crux unit that I have. I have yet to find anything on TPMS, gauges, etc. Although on my truck the tire pressure displays on the HUD on the dash, so I'm not sure that I would need it on the head unit.

As for custom programming, I was used to everything OEM, and the Crux one I have matches all of the OEM controls...So I guess the main difference is all of the gauge readings.

I’m aware that this is a dated thread. You can get aftermarket HU (with DVD players) that are much better than Toyota.

Personally I don’t fuck with anything involving the stereo, unless it shits the bed.

People half joke about this all the time. How realistic is it to do this? Like I'm curious about trying to get the 2020 LED headlights for cheap. How easy is it to find that stuff and how expensive is it if you do find it?

SAME unit I put in. It was so easy to add a front camera and tie it right in. I even have a long press on a steering wheel button to pull up the front camera for parking.....all easy DIY and similar price as mr2man07 posted. I do like my android auto wired though...works flawlessly that way and the phone stays charged.

Where did you tap the front camera for power? The one I got wouldn't reach all the way inside so it has to be somewhere in the engine bay.

Haven't heard of this one yet, just googled it, seems like a lot of the 4runner guys are using them. Do you know if it's useable with polarized sunglasses? Every other one so far isn't which is a deal breaker, but an android unit like this seems so perfect.

I read on another post how some guy thought his screen edges were condensating but he figured it was the polarized glasses he was wearing

    Add-a-fuse the engine bay
...but i would just solder a longer wire if I needed.
