According to TW overlanding and cross country road trips. and "head-turning" mods are synonymous. If you're talking the original idea of overlanding, you're stock truck will do 90% of that. TWs idea of overlanding is a hybrid where you rock crawl to the midway point of the Rubicon flex your long travel on a 4 ft rock and pitch your RTT overlooking with a view overlooking the Mediterranean.

In all seriousness though, your stock truck is more than enough to do most overlanding, but if you want it to be a bit more capable a small lift and a bump in tires and maybe some sort of traction like MaxTraxx. Be careful how deep down the "overlanding" rabbit hole you go. I was contemplating this weekend the amount of $$$ I've spent to "overland" and how I have limited the use of my truck in some regards. The more shit you add to your truck, the more mods you will need to get it back to it's original capability to some degree for example: adding aftermarket bumpers and winch for better "overlanding" and tire clearance is going to add weight, which translates to loss of power, which equals mods like gears, etc.

^^^ Its always a compromise when you start modifying a factory engineered vehicle. I experienced this first hand many years ago when I was into the vintage air cooled VW scene. Lower the front end? You get a rougher ride and watch out for speed bumps. Install a narrowed beam? The turning radius and handling is now compromised. Add HP to the engine? Now the transaxle and clutch needs to be beefed up and the drum brakes are inadequate. It never ends. The large team of factory engineers know best, aftermarket engineering and R&D doesn’t even come close.

You get that with DRL on only. You can turn that setting off. Its also foolish not to spring the $485 for the LED light package - the output and color is great.
