Good lord, this thread went off the rails since the last time I looked at it. Anyway, unfortunately, I think the answer to your question is get used to it, however, I want you to get it looked at because I want to hear what they say.

I wondered this exact thing but never asked about it. 7k miles and still feel it ever time I brake.

I'm coming to the conclusion that's just the way the pedal in these trucks feel. I'll bring it up when the first service comes up. I'll be changing the oil at 1,000 miles myself, 5,000 as normal after that.

I also found this thread, I thought interesting. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/brake-pedal-feel-2018-dcsb-4x4.548204/

My 2010 was overall smoother, though the 4.0 itself was a little rough at idle IMHO.

So just to be clear we're feeling the same thing. When you first hit the break pedal there some slack, than some resistance, than you hit a point where it feels like a light detent than it feels completely normal? All within the first 1/4 of the pedal travel.

I undercoated the frame, and ceramic coated the finish this past week, it was a lot of work.

Can you pass by your dealer and test drive other Tacomas on the lot? I have a 2019 and don't have what you're describing.

Good luck with that, I’m thinking a dealer isn’t going to let you cruise around in a brand new truck so you can compare brakes.
I have a 23 Off Road and the brakes are like you described, notching and grabby especially in reverse

100% the same thing. Slack then suddenly resistance then feels pretty normal. I was concerned when I got my truck that it was an issue but a family member let my try theirs and it was the exact same.

    Lots of positivity here.lol

My truck has 130 miles on it, and the dealership is one I've and that was for years now. I wouldn't expect them to loan me a truck to drive around all day with, a cruise in the parking lot is all it would take.✌️
