If budget was limited to $35-38k and you had to buy a new 2019 or 2020 taco 4x4 how would you configure?

Would it be best to buy from dealer or buy a lower trim and mod?

Usage is daily driver and weekend moderate off roading, camping and such. Nothing extreme.

    Thanks.

Get a 2020 taco first of all, forget about 2019.

Then decide if you really want/like a hoodscoop like the TRD sport. Forget about that also.

Get an off road and then pay like $800-1k to get a factory sport hood professional painted and you got yourself a pseudo pro without the badges and cosmetical stuff.

The trd off road has a locking diff and crawl control while the trd sport has mostly cosmetical upgrades over the sr5.

If you don't want the amenities of a trd then go 4x4 sr5 and save like 3-4 grand.

Go for the sr, v6, manual, 4x4 and mod the piss out of it.

Then use the saving of cash to buy a Prius to daily drive.

I would get an SR or SR5. Moderate off roading and camping, a stock truck is plenty capable of. Just run it as it is and modify as necessary. Use the money saved for trips, gas and food.

They don’t make a SR V6 manual. The only SR third gen manual made was a 4 cyl, up to 2017.

I have actually been considering an upgrade and have gotten a couple of quotes.

    Here ya go brother.

I would also look into Marietta Toyota. They offer a lifetime powertrain warranty with new vehicles.

I have a Sport and love it, put a lot of mods into it, I off road but no the point where I find myself needing a locker or crawl, not yet anyway, satisfied with the Sport!!!

Yes, the 2020 will have power seats, a much better headunit with android auto/apple carplay and update grill/headlight design.

    I would wait for those.

Biggest thing for me would be the headunit but again I just got a great plug and play android headunit that would blow any oem hu out of the water so I am not in a hurry.

I believe you don't have to buy it till 2020, as long as you mention that you only started using it for business till jan 2020? I might be wrong.

Also considering a tundra due to section 179 full deduction, but I drive a lot of miles and then I can't do miles discount the following years. Just gotta figure out which way lowers my taxes the most after 5 years I guess.

    To agree with Crimson above^^^^

    https://www.toyotaofroswell.com/new-inventory/index.htm

Try this place and don’t pay any attention to the “listed” prices....I bought my 18 DCSB MT TRD OR from them a little over a year ago for $33k out the door. Awesome people to work with..

I hate power seats. But the ability to lower would be totally worth it for me. I will be scowering the junk yards in a year or two to retrofit them in mine.

I am a field technician and spend a lot of idle time in my car so I move them a lot, however I don't think power seats will be faster/more reliable.

If they have the memory function, now we are talking.
