I had the 13 4cyl 4x4 with a 5 speed manual. Bought it in Florida, moved back to Michigan then to it out to Washington and back. Never once had an issue with it, I loved that truck. Only reason I moved up to the TRD is because I got an awesome deal on it.

    I had a 2014 4 cyl 5 spd 4x4, no ragrets.

Did it win races, nope. But it went anywhere I wanted to go with no problems. Tough spots, 4Lo and go.

There is a huge misconception that the 4 cyl is under powered for 4wd. They've been offered forever by Toyota and if they were that much of a problem then Toyota wouldn't build them. It's more of a generational thing. Everyone thinks they need 1000hp to go to the grocery store.

Around where I live everyone's driving 1 ton diesel trucks and they've never put a trailer behind them or weight in the bed. It's all personal preference and often a status symbol.

    I have a 4x4 4cylinder and I live in Alaska, you'll be fine with the 4 banger

I've even pushed the limits on it multiple times by trailering 3000ish pounds with another 1000ish pounds in the bed. It was a pig from the red light but still kept up with highway speeds.

The v6 are "faster" than the 4cyl..
But None of these trucks are fast compared to mustang cobra's or even a decked out 4 banger turbo wrx.:turtleride:

My 4x4 4cyl 5sp mt does fine in the snow and everywhere else. I have to watch or it goes too fast, it likes to go 80mph on the highway.

Mine did just fine as well, but my needs changed. I upgraded from a 4 cyl access cab to a v6 dcsb. Nothing wrong with the 4cyl 4x4 at all!

Good to know. I was thinking I would offer 3k below what they're asking. Who knows? I'm in know hurry.

Wow this is a great forum!

Look up prices from Russel Toyota in Ellicott City. Seriously

I bought mine and so did @jowybyo

No one could touch their prices.

Doubt you'll get 3k off. There's very little mark up on the "cheaper" 4 cylinder trucks, especially on the fleet truck @tomwill linked. If the truck is bare bones without dealer tacked on options, $1000-1500 off MSRP is a realistic deal.

Kind of blows that you can't buy a DCSB 4wd 4 cyl. Lots of people need cab space over trailer capacity and would love to have 4wd. And then you have crazy people like @jowybyo that converted his 2014 4 cyl Prerunner DCSB to 4wd. Haha

I have the 4cyl no 4x4, but have had between 800 and 1000 pounds in the bed multiple times. No its not fast, but it does it just fine and for the other 90% of the time I drive it the 4 is plenty. If I did it again I would still get the 4.
