This was interesting- had to get to MN to see a customer today. Just started using Budget for rentals and they have Tacomas- so I got one. 2022. Never driven a 3rd gen. I was honestly mostly impressed! All the trash talk about the horrible transmission programming… I didn’t really notice it much. Felt really responsive off the line, compared to the turbo 4 though it felt flat at 75 or so, but same with my 2nd gen. It really felt like a natural progression from my 2nd gen but MILES away from the 4th gen. The 1GRFE might outlive all of us, the rental had 61k on it but I was impressed with how it ran. If the turbo motor can live up to its predecessors it’ll be awesome.
