Haven't had the Tacoma for a month and I'm thinking about fun, small things to do to it... is this how it starts? Ha!

I just found this shift knob: http://oly4x4.com/shop/hub-style-shift-knob/

Which is really sweet - but what caught my interest was the "locker" works, and I was wondering if anyone had ever converted this into the 4WD shift knob, replacing the side 4WD button with the "locking" function of the fake hub.

Does anyone have any knowledge about how the 4WD button works and if this might be possible? Otherwise there is a local 4x4 shop that carries these, I might need to go take a look.

That's kind of cool. I opted for the Marlin Crawler ones. 2 identical ones for my Manual trans and the Xfer case. Plus - I have some other Marlin Crawler bits in my Taco. And some Hot Sauce.

Lol that would be pretty cool to turn the hub and have it function as the push button on that style of transfer case!

Or if you could modify it to be your locker button

Looks like a gimmick to me...

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to add a reed switch and a magnet, all the push button does is show a continuity to ground to the 4wd ecu to activate. Just one wire...

The Tacoma is a good gimmick. One of the most popular Mid-size pickups. Taco Gimmick :)
