Does it whether I'm on the brakes or not :-(

Feel it mostly in the steering wheel

@jimmy All I can say is Wow! Seems like you’ve been more than patient on this. I’d be researching Lemon laws and Attorneys, I hope you have everything
Documented, Times, names, places, dealers, time off work, phone calls, time without your truck etc, etc. Best of luck to you and please keep us
    Updated.

19 more days and you can force Toyota to buy your truck back.

I had 230 miles on my 2019 when i took it in for brake shimmy (and other issues )
    They ordered two rear drums
They haven’t arrived yet but i’m confident it will fix the problem

Guarantee you are going to need more than just drums. I went through the same shit. I hope I’m wrong and it works. Best of luck.

Hopefully they’ll check your axles for being undersized which causes the drums to run eccentric to the axles. They had to to replace both
of mine for this. Good luck!

I had my drums replaced already. For any of you who had this done and then the issue return, how long after the first drum replacement did it take for the problem to come back?

Your axles were /undersize/!? How the heck does that make it out of the factory?! I have the rear diff whine too, so maybe they just messed it up in many ways in the rear end. Crazy. Guess i’ll find out soon

From what i’ve seen and read up on, it does seem like the 2nd gen is more reliable. I have two friends with about 100k on theirs, and literally /nothing/ is or has gone wrong with them. I’ve got about six problems straight from the factory on my 2019 - which of course makes me worry how many issues will crop up as i accrue miles. I’d say he’s smart to keep the older, well-proven rig.

Yes, that’s a good question. I guess Toyota’s QC isn’t what it once was. The drums don’t center on the lug studs they center on the hub shoulder which is part of the axle. when the hub shoulder is undersized the drum is no longer perfectly centered. I was looking for a 2nd gen with a 4.0
but unfortunately I found this truck with 7000 low miles and a good price. Now I have to worry about all this crap going on and also this engine.
My wifes 2013 Highlander will run circles around my truck and is a lot less complicated.

That might be a wise decision on your part......At least until Toyota gets some of these problems sorted out.

This is a detail of TSB-0023-19. It shows a detail of the faulty rear axles, leading the rear brake drum warping.

Non-TRD - interesting. I’ve got the shakes and its the TRD locker. I’ll let y’all know if the drums fix it

Update: BCS Toyota says the low speed vibration (30ish-10-15ishmph) is a "normal operating condition of the LONGbed TRD OFF-roads" caused by "harmonics and vibrations"... uhhh wut?

ASM said they took out the other one on their lot and felt the same thing. WUT?

I mean, it's not a major vibration, but definitely not normal, and they DID NOT offer to change drums or axles etc. I'm picking up the truck here in an hour and will get more info/paperwork from them. At least it's documented.

MAFbeard- and anyone else with a longbed or 2019 OR that has had these issues- how bad is/was your vibration?

I'm going to try out some aggressive braking/bedding the brakes in on the way back and will see if that helps at all. Was honestly one of my initial thoughts when feeling it but wasn't trying to break any brakes, if indeed they were malfunctioning.
