The TSB for 2017-2019 trucks with the vibration is #T-SB-0023-19. It only applies to trucks with the BD20 rear diff so only applies to SR and SR5 models.

Thanks for the clarification. I just wish they would figure it out. You'd think since 2016 they'd have it down..

It's crazy that 2019 trucks have this issue too. My truck (built in early 2018) had this problem and the first visit was a could not duplicate, the second visit I brought them the service bulletin number and had them test it again. I thought I read somewhere that they had a batch of axles that weren't manufactured correctly by their vendor and that is why this is happening. Not sure if it's just limited to trucks made in Mexico or not. I think I also read an account of someone needing this bulletin and the new axles that were sent to the dealer were also not in spec, so they had to order a second set. I will say that it's a good fix, no vibrations at all after the fix.

    A few.
You could try to get a tech to ride along with you and show them the problem.

Welcome me.... First post on this forum and it's on this thread, so you can guess as to why I'm here. 2019 TRD OR with less than 200 miles (just picked it up Friday) and it "vibrates" under braking from 20-0 mph. I'd describe this as less of a vibration and more of a wobble if that makes sense. I've had cars with warped rotors and that isn't it. I haven't tested in neutral w/ braking, or done the hill test yet since I just got it this weekend. Pretty good at experimental design so over the course of the next couple weeks I'll try to see what may actually be the culprit. Not exactly what I wanted to see upon purchasing a brand new $40k truck; and there doesn't seem to be an official TSB for this issue yet. If it doesn't get worse, I may write it off. First new car I've ever owned, traded in a 2000 Honda Accord with 200k and a few issues so was hoping this would be the end-all-be-all vehicle. Honda required virtually nothing in the form of extensive maintenance over 15yrs of ownership. Have a 1990 K1500 for moto hauling, etc but it's not robust enough for long trips heavily loaded. We'll see about this new taco thing. I probably should've at least waiting for the 2020 for Apple Car Play / Android Auto....this Toyota software is horrendous.

I took my 19' TRD with 1500 miles in to the dealer last week for this same thing. All they did was a brake inspection and they said they wanted to wait until the 5k service and after the break in period before they diagnose what the actual problem is. Meanwhile I plan on calling Toyota customer care and filing a complaint. About the vibration.

Started bringing mine in a 2k miles, now at 5.5k. 1st time they changed the drums, they said they were faulty but did not fix.
2nd time I really pusked for the axle change but apparently according to the Yota specialist & many on the forum this only works on some of the trucks. My VIN did not match the TSB so they didn't do anything.
Specialist told me that basically they have not pinpointed it and sounds like Toyota is trying not to throw money at a may fix or not guess.
He told me to call Toyota Care, which I did.
Been advised that they're working on it. Thinking we may not be included on the TSB yet because not enough 2019s reported yet, IDK, go ahead & call please.. I'm getting used to it now but that doesn't mean it's right..

Took mine in today for the 20,000 mile service and mentioned that I had a “rumble strip” vibration when braking lightly at all speeds but most noticeable between 45 and 65. Long story short took all day but the tech did some measurements and determined that my rear axels were out of spec and that TSB applied to my truck even though my vin wasn’t part of it. So the parts are on order and I have a full day of service scheduled to get everything replaced and fixed. They are also replacing the drums and brake components as well at the same time. Basically all new except the rear diff.

I’m going to call that service number. I didn’t buy a 2019 just to have these annoying problems. Almost makes me wish I’d gotten a Tundra.

Appointment this afternoon back at the dealer. Did some testing with the handbrake and rolling neutral up a hill. I can still feel some vibration in both scenarios but nothing like just normal braking from 60-40-0. Obviously the hand brake thing causes some hopping anyway, but I do believe there is some drivetrain vibration in this truck. I can feel it during normal driving when I let off the gas and just coast for a few. It's not always as noticeable and something that I could live with, but the braking vibration is just plain annoying. Hopefully it'll be something they can address. 500 miles on the truck now so o_O I've never stepped foot into a dealer until I bought this thing (except to buy Honda ATF for my Accord). I told the service manager and GM that I wasn't trying to make a habit out of it. I've gotten the cookie cutter email stating "vehicle is in high demand, ready to purchase back, etc, etc". It may be something I would consider but I'm sure I would get bent over. Makes me want to consider new Silverado or Tundra but they're so monstrous.

I know this sounds is crazy. I had this problem. I’m almost to my 1 service (5000 miles). However I didn’t like the rear shocks on my off road. Kinda bouncy when I pulled a trailer. Anyway, I changed my rear shocks to the Bilstein 5100. I’m still in disbelief right now. But, my vibration is gone. I still have to do some more driving around to convince myself. But, wow. Right now it’s pretty nice to slow down and not vibrate

Can I come ride in your truck? :spending:

Parts are ordered for dealer to perform TSB for leaf spring pack this weekend. They also indicated getting measurements around the axles and drums as well, but we'll see. At this point I had planned on using this for ammo for a trade in anyway.

The frustrating part was that they initially indicated I could have this assessment and work performed at my local dealer since this dealer is 1.5hrs away. I would have done that but had a separate reason to travel the 1.5hrs anyway, so I let the dealer I bought the truck from do the work. After the ride around, they went ahead and ordered the parts and when I asked as to whether my local dealer could perform the TSB (since it is a TSB which can be referenced by any dealer)they told me that I would need to go to that dealer and "convince" them of the problem as well....even though I had just spent 2hrs doing the ride around and assessment. The service "concierge" agreed that was silly, but it seemed like I couldn't convince the tech that getting on the phone with the other dealer was doable. So..I said fine I will bring it back.

Add that to the fact that the shop foreman comes out and literally says "Yes, Toyota is trying to reverse engineer these problems with TSBs. If you put 500lbs in the bed it will ride smooth and you won't have an issue". Ask me where I've heard that before. So I said I'd rather not ride around with my motorcycle in the back ALL THE TIME just to get the $40k I deserve out of a brand new truck. We'll see what the leaf spring pack does but I'm not optimistic.

Yep 19 TRD OR. Guess I need to update my profile. Went and drove a Silverado today which is probably what I should've gone with (chastise if you want). Got offered $10k less than what I paid on trade in. Was expecting to take a hit but I'm not dumb enough to do that. We'll see what the dealer does this weekend and I'll update.

I just came from a gmc... DO NOT DO IT. Mine was a gmc 4door 4x4 5.3l...i hated that truck with a passion. Constant rattles, dash cracked, ticking lifters... Anything but a gm vehicle in my opinion.

Yea this truck did have more rattles than the Taco...but....it didn't vibrate like a rumble strip when I braked. And it didn't shift like a 12 year old kid when I coasted for 100yds. That said my buddy has a 2016 GMC 1500. His dash did crack on some rough road riding but was replaced under warranty. Other than that, ~120k miles and no other issues. He routinely hauls a massive duck boat in the winter months as well. No issues. I see a lot of those trucks on the road, tons of construction vehicles, etc. They have kinda been the standard for a long time, granted they don't make anything like they used to but my experience and friends experience with the GM trucks has been strong.
