It’s has minimal vibration when applied on brake at speed 35-50. Truck has rumbled strip/vibration before it comes to complete stop. It’s lots better but still not 100perfect

I have a 2018 and I have taken it in 4 different times and they state they cant replicate the issue. They claim tsb doesn't apply. Called Toyota and started a claim. Next step Toyota told me to have a service tech ride with me. Made an appointment and tech agreed the was something up with the rear and brakes, he lightly pulled the e brake while driving to pin point the issue. Well sure enough I have a voicemail Saturday from another service writer telling me that they drove it and cant find a issue and that pulling the e brake while driving isn't a normal application so it doesn't warrant a problem. They claimed they measured the drums and axles and forwarded it to Toyota, got a call in to see if that's true or not. I love the truck but really considering a 4runner or diesel Colorado at this point.

I had noticed mine doesn’t come to as smooth of a stop as it did after they resurfaced rotors...going to wait till my 5000 mile service and see how it’s doing ..if it gets worse before then I will take back...wish they had replaced rotors instead of resurfacing

I will give my dealearship credit,...didn’t deny the problem and went with tsb without me asking about it first...just didn’t do the drums at the same time had to bring back and say it’s not fixed...they probably had my truck a total of 10 days though...they did admit they should have did the drums 1st time around according to tsb

And the spin begins. If you have to do something unorthodox to reveal a difficult to reproduce problem, you aren't operating the vehicle in real world conditions and therefore no problem exists. The age old excuse to do nothing.

    Update:
2 weeks ago dealership replaced the rear differential but refused to replaced the drums. After 300 miles back to square one truck vibrates when applied on brake and rumbled at speed 35 to complete stop. Took the truck back today tech test drives and says it was worst than before. This time they ordered new drums..

They’ll be doing axles if they didn’t measure the flange the drums sit on.
Sounds like they’re throwing darts at it lol

i'm not going to read this entire thread or the many other threads related to the tsb for rumble strip vibration between 30 to 10 mph. they are all the same. over and over again.
i do not believe it is brake related, i believe it is frame/body system resonance related and toyota does not know how to fix it (a problem in the core design).
dealers deny it because there is no fix. i have felt it in multiple tacomas with practically no mileage on them. it aint the brakes.
you can prove this to yourself by finding a paved hill that will slow you down without the brakes. make a run at it and let it slow down without applying the brakes.
it will vibrate between 30 to 10mph as you slow down (make sure hill is steep enough to simulate gentle braking)
i have not seen anyone suggest this simple test so i post here. apologies if it appears elsewhere.
note this does not rule out brakes causing problems, but the rumble strip is a tacoma free "feature" so no need for a vibrating massage seat addon :)

edit: Not_Sure post reminded me...i forgot to mention to put the vehicle in neutral while slowing down on the hill. this further eliminates some of the components as being the culprit exciters.

edit2: when i was test driving tacomas, i noticed it and mentioned to the salesman.
he was a tacoma owner and rather than make an excuse for it, he acknowledged it as the "tacoma tango".

Amen brother! I have done as this post states, and with under 200 miles on the truck, it ain’t the brakes. Sitting below 700 miles now, and eagerly waiting for my April 2 service appt. the rumble strip option on my taco is not transmission related either. Pop it in manual, and cost to a stop, rumble strip option activated!

On a side note, this forum is f*n fantastic. I remember 25 plus years ago, in the dark ages pre-inter webs, it was a pain in the rear to find this kind of information from other owners of like vehicles. Thank you tacomaworld for putting us together.

    Cheers!

My truck also has this problem braking from freeway speeds of 50-60 MPH, truck shaking. Feels like it’s worse in the rear and feels worse
when brakes are hot. Toyota tech duplicated the problem and concurred. Dealer has the truck and turning the front rotors, now has the
rearend disassembled and inspecting axles and drums (I hope). Also a flash for surging. I’ll give it a try but I’m starting to feel sorry that
I sold my Dodge Cummins 4X4 which never gave me any problems. Stay tuned for the result.
Edit: Build date 11/17 Miles 8K DC SB 4X4 SR

Well sounds like a heck of a lot of people have this issue. I fixed my 2018 Sport 4x4! Yes indeed, Traded that sucker off for a 2018 Camry about 5 months ago. Dealership did all of the turning drums, new brake shoes, skimmed front rotors and installed new brake pads on the truck and vibration was still there. They said my truck didn’t fall in the range of the TSB. I’m a truck type guy so I traded the Camry last week for a 2019 Tacoma OR. So far no vibration but only time will tell.

After Four days at the dealer, they called and said my truck is ready. They turned the front rotors, checked the axles and found both to be undersized causing the drums to run non concentric. Replaced both axles, bearings and seals, updated the ECM, and TCM, and finally they replaced the upper console due to an open interior circuit light problem.
Long story short, It feels like a different truck, No vibration anywhere, shifts better, shift points are a little higher which feels like it has more power,
And doesn’t bog the engine on a slight incline before downshifting. So far I’m happy as a pig in $hit!

Checking in. Had a vibration, googled it, found this. Mine seems like it's below 20 mph. Almost like a rumble strip while braking. I have 200 miles on a 2019 Taco 4x4 SR. Order date was 1/2019, just took delivery this week. It's not something catastrophic and the first few times I wrote it off as the road surface, but it was happening too often. For me it's pretty subtle.

I would have thought that with a truck that new these TSB’s would have been addressed. Take it to the dealer, tell them you’re concerned about
safety and have them duplicate the fault and repair it. This seems like a fairly common problem. If the dealer doesn’t give you satisfaction, go to
Another. Mine wasn’t very subtle and the tech picked it up immediately. Get their reply on their letterhead and document everything.
Good Luck and welcome to the forum!

Just bought my 2019 less than a month ago and I'm having this issue. Usually felt the vibration when coming off the freeway, at first I thought it was the road that was bad, but it seems like it's vibrating everytime I'm braking going over 30mph. I made an appointment with Toyota for Monday, hopefully they can pinpoint this issue.
