    Hi,

My excuses if this is a repeated post. I am thinking of replacing the air filter in my new Double Cab Tacoma 2014 TRD sport (V6). I was thinking about K&N replacement filter. I would like to know the good things and bad things or if i should just keep the stock filter instead. I use the truck as my daily car (mostly highway, no off-road). would i get any enhance performance with the filter, better HP, MPG, etc???

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Alfredo

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Have a nice dinner, instead. Buy alloy wheels for better performance.

A little of this and a little of that.
IMO, not much to be gained from a K&N replacement air filter.

Unless you want a reusable filter. Some people don't want to pay for a paper replacement, preferring to clean and re-oil a K&N repeatedly. Unfortunately, the cost of the K&N and the cleaning materials needed is not inconsequential. And, without a dramatic improvement in performance or other benefits, the convenience of simple replacement is hard to overlook.

a reusable filter that does not filter nearly as well as a paper filter.

stock filter from toyota is the best. I tried K&N but didn't make a difference. If anything, i was worried that more dust and stuff would make it through the K&N then stock.

Stick with stock. I fell into the K&N trap a few times. No improvement and no MPG gains. Stock filter filters just fine and probably better than a K&N.

That said.... The sticker they send you with a K&N filter add up to 5HP so I've been told.

I also vote no. I ran one in my 4Runner for over 100k miles and never could tell any difference.

I have aFe Pro-Dry S filter...no oil needed. I didn't buy it for performance though. I bought it for the convenience of not ever having to buy another filter. For not much more than the cost of a couple of paper filters, I've got one that will last the life of the truck. I just clean it about once a year or so.
