    Greetings from Alaska!

My name is Brandon, and I just joined the forum. I've been browsing the posts on here for a few years now, and finally decided to become a member.

My current truck, "Fremont Jack", is a base model that I bought back in 2012 when I was broke. It's also my third tacoma. It's been an awesome little truck, but it's time to upgrade. I'm looking to buy a replacement and set it along the lines of an overland build.

The new truck will be a 4wd double cab with 6' bed, but beyond that I'm not sure where to start. I'm trying to learn if the factory upgrades (TRD, limited, etc.) are worth the price for an overlanding truck. (It will also be my daily commuter.) Hoping to learn from the group on here.

    Brandon

PS: I live in Alaska and am also an active ham radio operator (Amateur Extra license, KL7BSC). During amateur (ham) radio contests I enter as what is called a "rover" station. Basically, you temporarily add high-end antennas on the vehicle and make contacts with other radio operators from remote locations. Photos below:

Pausing for a photo during one event last year. (Antennas on the truck in the background.)

Greetings and welcome. I'm a ham operator myself, and used to live in Anchorage. Alpenglow may be another great spot...or Flattop...just go a bit further up Hillside (wink)!
