Hello everyone I'm Cipher, 24 from Wisconsin!

I'm volunteer ski patrol (snowboard)/ski patrol instructor and a rock climbing instructor. Also will be taking my EMT classes hopefully staring in January!

I finally saved up with no help from mom and picked up MY first car, a 2016 OR premium trim in black. Yeah I know it took awhile, but I wanted to have no monthly payments since I'm going back to school soon. I'v been reading stuff on here since I got my Tacoma at the end of June and finally figured I'd post.

I'm interested in basic mod reccomemdations and improvements, I've listed some things I've done and things I want to do. We also just got record flooding here in Madison for us and getting out of work the water was tire height+ (stock tires) so any reccomemdations for water driving, not through a legit lake but if people know how high the air intake and other important things are etc.

    Things done so far:
    -tinted
    - led interior and plate lights
    - no exterior badges
-trd pro grille(however done by the previous owner, also removed the Toyota letters in it)
    - dash cam
    - blue line trim on interior
    - mudflaps
    - trd keyfob
    - smoked reverse and bed lights
    - trd exhaust tip
    - console organizer
    - locking bed consoles (file cabinet locks)
    - dakine tailgate pad for mt.bike hauling
    - and of course... Not the nicest looking but functional kurgo dog bench cover and seat covers..

Things I'm hoping to do but could take part/brand reccomemdations/ideas:
    - looking at the gator brand tri fold tonneua covers so I can transport and protect my snowboard in winter?
    - led high beams, brand reccomemdations?
(What are the stock bulbs halogen or led for fog and low beams, and their ???k hue/ lumen output?) I've googled and am struggling..
    - upgrade low and fog beams?
    - light bar for in the lower grill? (Lots of late Backcountry driving for patrol)
    - led pods(like 4") for climbing trips
    - decent radio system for emergency/weather (have a baofeng handheld)
    - something to manage that annoying fuel cap
    - maybe a bull bar, again Backcountry roads late at night.. often in snow
    - bed organization, how well do cargo nets work? Fishing stuff, snowboarding stuff, kayak and other sports stuff typically.
    - winch?
    - tow rings?
    - rims for a second set of tires, black please. Looking at the trd pro all black wheels.
    -wheel locks
    - Jerry can plastic vs metal, and seccuring it.
    - good set of jumper cables, everyone says something different when it comes to guage, most often used to jump 2014 Civic ex, 2013 ex crv, 1995 4runner v6 sr5 4 door
    - portable jumpstart power bank
    - compact plug in 9v or normal plug tire inflator

Thanks for reading through this.. stoked to be here and have this truck for a long time.

    I'll post pictures soon!

Just got it!! Last guy did a couple things.... some good, some bad.. Jump forward almost 2 weeks, I’ve put on a HS Off-road 2” lift kit with 5100s all around, new springs, and a AAL in the rear, with TRD 17x7” SEMA wheels wrapped in 255-80-17 Toyo Open Country ATs Installed InSight Retrofits HIDs, look friggin' sweeeet Husky Weatherbeater Action onboard
I'm new here as well, but good to see another patroller!! I work as a pro in the Tahoe area, and I ride with 2 planks on my feet instead of one. Is your goal to go pro, is that why you're getting your EMT? Easy class, kinda boring, but lab time is better. Let me know if you need any help, been an EMT around 10 years now, and doing the medic thing for much shorter...

And heated mirrors mod is a nice cheap easy mod that's great when you're truck gets snowed on all day while you're on the hill.

Late reply, still learning this notifications/website stuff.

That sounds awesome pro and emt! EMT I'm doing for fun and because experience. I would be interested in pro some day, especially because I rock climb and mountain bike.. Wisconsin "mountain" bike so not the same but working on it. I've also never really been good with school stuff, but all the hands on from patrol has been great it makes learning the content so much better!

I'd be stoked if you had any tips for the EMT class, I already have a public rig to ride with via a patroller I work with! How's being a pro patroller? It sounds really great and rewarding.

Another solid push for me was my sister did EMT about a year and a half ago. And this past May on a climbing trip an experienced friend took a 55' fall and her brother, myself and my friend who had just taken his WFR had to respond since EMS couldn't get to us for an hour and 10 mins because of location. It just really clicked how important the skills you learn are and my friend is projected at a full recovery. Had multiple surgeries and some crazy breaks but after it all for what we had it could have been so much worse.

As for mods, I bought used and have those heated mirrors! Do you have a cap or run a cover on your bed for your skis, or have a different setup?

Love working as a pro dude. Our hill, with today’s suit happy culture and insurance requirements, pros are the only ones who can climb towers, use the snowmobiles, drive other on-hill equipment, use saws, etc. But we couldn’t even run a patrol without our National Patrol, we are too understaffed, and a lot of those guys have more experience per person than we do as an entire pro staff.

You’ll be fine in your EMT dude. Just remember how you do your assessments in class will be different from real life. Keep that real world experience in mind, but do the dorky test-version assessments line by line per the book. And when it comes to written tests, the right answer will usually be the one that involves fixing an airway or circulation problem!

My old pickup had a shell, which was a blessing and curse. Current truck has a cover, but I’m looking to sell it. But I’ll put some short bed bars on and mount a ski rack so I have an option to lock up my skis when they aren’t locked in the first aid room. Wish I liked the cover on my truck, but it doesn’t fold all the way up against the cab, so it permanently takes a third away from an already short bed. And that makes it too short to fit my mountain bike comfortably in the bed!
