Not bad so far, going to pull the carpet as time allows and then clean up the drivers seat so I have somewhere to sit when we drag it over to my brothers garage and get ready for the motor. Downloaded and printed off the applicable pages of the FSM for tranny and engine removal, doesn't SEEM too bad really. The motor that is in it doesn't read any oil on the dipstick, but it does however have more than I think should be in the air filter housing. Don't know how that happened. We were going to try just a head swap at first sight, but I think a engine swap will help me feel loads better.

And so it begins! Looks better already. Every now and then you can find rebuilt engines on tw. Looks like you are serious. Congrats again on all fronts.

Why can't I find deals like that? Looks 100% better, and that was just a vacuuming. Keep posting process pics!

Thanks everyone on the congratulations for my daughter. My wife was all good and then all of a sudden we were in the ER and she was going to be having an emergency c section. Hold your loved ones close, that was a scary day. She is in total support of this truck and says it must be clean as a whistle before our daughter will be riding in it. She went to Moab with us two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed that trip, there will be more, God willing.

So I got the carpet out the other day and started cleaning up the dash and all of the other panel that I wasn't taking out. Or, at least start to clean.

I am getting ready to get the carpet in, but this happened.

    IMG_0823_zps4bbb0839_eca0d1c56fed3c4758576fdd5c45d61c45623a1f.jpg

So I had to lend a hand with the 3 oclock change/feed/pump schedule, and it looked like it was going to rain too:)

    I will be back later...

Pressure washed and vacuumed once again, then I thought it would be better to get the floorpans under it again to help work with the brush and upholstery cleaner. So in it goes and rocker trim is back in.

If I am lucky I will have the chance to vacuum the seats and use the cleaner on those as well some time tomorrow. The center console has been removed, disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled and is ready to go back in. I need some of the cup holder rubber things though, the others were wasted.

That cup holder on the floorboards there... does that slide out from under the back seat by chance??

You don't have to reply. I could be the dumbest member here. 2 double cab tacomas (01 & 02) and 8 years later I'm just now realizing I have cup holders in the back seat. I'm surprised I don't wear Velcro shoes and a helmet.

I gotta laugh at myself sometimes. On the bright side, discovering new things you had this whole time is like putting on last years coat and finding $10 in the pocket.

Hey Brandon, looking great. What did you think of the pressure washing. Pretty unreal when you see the crud come out, huh? Pretty sure most trucks never get that treatment. Getting close for my one year super clean. Again the before and after is awesome. GL

Looks good OP I got my truck in around the same as yours looked but lucky for me the original owner had cheap seat covers since new and my seats were still good they were potheads and the truck reaked of the stuff but after cleaning she's like a new truck again I was lucky to get her at 60,000 miles for $8,000 last year

That was a great trick for the carpet Andy G. I have found that I need either Oops! or white vinegar to remove the weird dirt/fry grease mixture that was on most of the oft used interior components. There is a greasy spot on the headliner above the driver seat. WTF!! How does that happen?? My brother had 240,000 miles on his '00 before it was bought back and the worst thing about that was one summer he left a package of spring rolls under his seat for a while by accident and even that went away!

Thanks for following this renovation, I can't wait to wheel it.

Yeah it's refreshing to see someones vision coming along. I think you are a man with a plan! Now the grease on headliner is a first.

Are you sure it's grease on the headliner? I had a line of spots above my head on my head liner that happened when I tried throwing a half fill fountain drink at this SOB in a convertible miata. Kinda backfired on me but that's a story for another time.
