That road rage often back fires. Hope that spot on the headliner didn't have anything to do with watching x-rated video's!!!

I don't know what to say bud, that's unfortunate. I would just try a deep breath next time. A lot of time can be wasted on being pissed at someone for "nothing". A nice drive in the woods can work well too;)

I will get a picture of the "grease" spot a little later on, the wife is sleeping and I am in charge of the baby for the moment. I would imagine I would catch a little hell if she woke and I was out taking pictures of the truck. I have the rear seats in too so it would be a good time for an update anyway.

I would like to call for suggestions on removing the existing motor and installing the new. Toyota has a bolt on engine hoist mount, but I am wondering how necessary it is, anyone got a photo or two of how they have pulled a 3.4 from it's typical hiding place? I know, they don't normally need replacing, but I do know that they have been dropped in some earlier trucks and 4runners. Let me know.

You know I'm playin, right? Never pulled six cyl. Recently pulled 4 cyl. using an engine hoist. Pulled engine, transfer, transmission in one piece. It takes 2 people for sure. I lifted from factory hook and used another hook opposite on back. Sure someone else will help you on 6 cyl. Keep it up man. Also used leveling kit.

I think there are hoist loops on the 6 somewhere. they look like the tie-down loops on the underside (oblong). pretty sure you have to take a couple thing off not to get bound up but overall should work.

if not just use a normal hoist bar and bolt it in then lift out. If some things are already torn apart it would make it easier :)

btw 2scars how tall was the PO? could be hair gel/fro juice (yes I have a friend with "really" curly hair haha)

There are lots of parts to dismantle off of engine. Common sense will guide you. Harness,cables,radiator,fan,airbox,etc.,etc,etc. It shouldn't be terrible either. I always take pics as I go also.

Take pics and label bolts ! When I had a motor out for a rebuild I ended with way too many "extra" bolts...

The motor does have a one hook, but there is another hook that bolts on, I have already printed out the FSM pages that I need and have been reading them over. Looks pretty straightforward and should be relatively easy:pray:

Never fails. When I lost truck to rust I kept every bolt, washer, clip that I could. Bad thing was engine swap and all involved loaded even more nuts and bolts. All in same container. Lots of digging in one container. Not best way!

Will either be sand blasted and painted or be replaced with SCS F-5s. We will see once my truck sells. Probably painted, unless I can find a set locally that are in decent shape for cheap, I like the factory alloys.

Well I had my last day off from work for a while and I decided that it was the day to go get the new engine for the truck.

    IMG_0852_zps1d055e9b_d6dd277a769a24a390715d7613cf501669d77ea6.jpg

While I was up there I picked up a new/used/another A340F transmission from Andy G., thanks Andy and good to meet you. Loaded that up with the JDM 3.4 and headed home.

    IMG_0849_zpsdfa34d3e_48ba8525cff9feb346fb96862d367ad63d74f2cd.jpg

And an extra little motivation, I started to check out how the RTT and rack would work out. I like it...

May be it for a couple of weeks, need to get the truck up to my brothers and move the engine to his Q-hut shed and do the timing belt and stuff. Then the heart transplant begins. :D
