Brandon after you work the bugs out do yourself a favor and install tundra brakes. I just did this a couple weeks ago on my project taco and a couple years ago on my 4runner. BIG difference! Your oem 16's will clear. I upgraded because i tow a 17ft fiberglass camper. Pic are from the install on my taco. It's funny you mention the scs F-5's that's what i have on my project.

I had that on my list Dave, but honestly, this thing does pretty well considering I drive like an old lady in the truck and drive like a teenager in my Civic. I am also in the process of getting all the running gear refreshed and removing noises the best I can.

Your truck looks great though, I am getting real limited on the amount of time I get to spend in the garage if I am going to be "allowed" to go hunting this winter, so I really pick my battles. Getting the truck to the point I can safely take my wife, and later my baby girl, into the woods for a night are my goals.

I upgraded because i use it to tow some of my toys. A pic of my motor installed. I replaced all the belts, including the Tbelt/W. pump kit, tune up items, rad. hoses, oil cooler hoses, Tstat, multiple gaskets and oil pan gasket sealant from toyota. New clutch kit. Air & fuel filters. I plan on keeping this truck forever so i replaced just about all the maintance items while the engine was on the engine stand, a lot easier that way. I replaced every fluid except the hydraulic clutch fluid, plan on flushing that soon. I'm sure your agree these project tacomas are fun and addicting! It's funny how similiar our trucks were when we 1st purchased them, blown 3.4's, trashed interiors and both my front rims were also caked with brake dust. I know you have your hands full but if you get a chance check out my thread, My $500 project 4x4.

Cool build dude! I have a one year old daughter at home and don't know how you find the time. I can barely keep up with household maintenance. More power to you!
I put a lot of work this spring into getting a camper up and running to get the wife and daughter out in the world. My daughter will go down in the camper but wakes up a few hours later furious and wanting to go home. We have had several painful nights so far. Hope camping goes better for you guys.

My grass needs cutting man, but I just prioritize:) My wife is great and also thinks that I will not feed the baby properly or something, so I get time to do other things. They come out and hangout while I am working on the truck, she helped me bleed the brakes, etc. We make it more than just me working on the stupid truck, ya know?

She also really appreciated the camping trip a few weeks ago, hanging out and not having to worry about the baby for one night, the little victories.

I think I am in the market for new rear third. I guess I will be calling ECGS before the week is out. Damn, that was my tire money.

So I got the suspension done this weekend, it's a bit bigger than I wanted really. I really preferred the height of my last Tacoma, I think it was 2/3, this is like 3/5.

Approved by Mama and baby though, so that's cool.

Also have these little guys that I want to run as ditch lights up by the windshield/side view mirror on a bracket.

    IMG_1045_zpsf53434eb_6953aed98629d736fffdbfe19b4c31925a76a050.jpg

Plenty of driveshaft wobble and I still have the rear pinion/differential noise. So upsetting:(

I really miss how compliant the OME Dakars were as opposed to the AP Expo leaves that are on this one. I am going to pull another leaf from each pack to get the rear end down some more. If it is level with the cap on, I will be :D

Decided that 5" was too much in the rear, so I took out the 3rd from the bottom leaf and now I am 3" front and 4" rear with the cap on. Helped the vibration in the rear some, but still have one from 55-65, I think the D-shaft is out of balance, someone decided it was best to add lock washers to the bolt head side of the flange as opposed to the nut side, the way it should be. I have a feeling they didn't put the shaft back together properly.

    Anyone with a 1st gen on here switched to a one-piece d-shaft?

    Anyway, photos...

And also took the time to move the Scangauge to a new, more solid mounting location.

Okay, I am probably screwing myself here...but I thinking have solved the majority of my drive shaft vibes. I need to remember that I have poly rack and pinion bushings now Nd I may feel more of the road. Diff drop and a bit of a CSB drop and my vibes are reduced on the test drive, I will know on the way to work tomorrow.
