I just purchased a 2014 Tacoma, V6 4.0L with tow package to use for towing a 19 ft 2013 White Water 819 toy hauler. I am planning my maiden voyage in mid September up in the mountains of Arizona. I do not have a generator yet, so need to camp in cooler weather or stay at rv parks for the hookup. First trip is 'roughing it' in the woods with my sis and spouse with their camp club. Hope to glean a wealth of info from them on that trip. I am a first timer with a travel trailer so a bit nervous. My big experience towing is 20 ft U-Haul towing 15 ft enclosed trailer from Woodland Park, CO to Flagstaff, AZ in very strong side winds near CO/NM borders. Hoping the Tacoma and toy hauler is no worse than that :)

P.S. Have not tested mileage, suppose to get 16/21 and I believe only a 21 gallon tank. Would like to have larger tank installed. Would appreciate any insight anyone could provide in that endeavor.

I don't know anything about a larger tank install, but I have been averaging about 21 mpg with about the same truck.

I suspect I should be able to achieve 21 mpg also for regular hwy driving, but I am considering that will drop considerably when pulling the toy hauler. I am hoping that I am not forced to pull into a fuel station every two hours. I am also a first timer pulling a travel trailer, so I suspect I will become proficient in maneuvering to the gas pump. :)

I pull a 200lb trailer with a 200lb dirt bike and all the gear and gas that goes with it. I still get the same mileage. I imagine yours will definitely drop , but I have no idea by how much.
