New audio recommendations..

So i want to upgrade my audio system on my Tacoma 18, but have no idea what brand, model, to get please help!!!

Pioneer 4400nex
Kicker speakers with subaru tweeters.
Kicker sub under drivers seat.

Waze, carplay, android auto, google maps, app data , torque pro, vehicle info , dvd movies, dual cams , custom wheel control programming, etc

 

I'm definitely not happy with the lack of Android Auto and that stupid gracenote stuff that is removing my album art and swapping it with whatever crap it googles.
I'll be getting the Kenwood DNX995S but another good alternative (if you like big screens) is the Alpine Halo 9 that a few people have installed here. I would have gone with that but the screen resolution is low for the price.

Here is an example of it changing my album art with something completely wrong. This was two days ago.

You can turn off the album art. I did it on day 2 of ownership iirc

Also, I recommend the OEM Audio Plus kit. I've had it for a year and a half or so. Is excellent.

 

I have one that's alot worse than this. For the band crystal lake and the song apollo, instead of the album art which is pretty awesome, it has this blonde girl standing on a red carpet with the quality of a potato. I couldn't even google it so I have no idea where it's pulling from.

 

Yeah, but I want album art. I just don't want it looking it up on it's own. It's supposed to be getting that data from my phone.

Well, it's my daily driver not my weekend warrior. I'm not upset about it, just irks me that Toyota doesn't invest in their radios like other brands. I'll just swap it out as I've always done on every car I've owned anyway.

 

I got the OEM audio plus and then decided to also change my head unit to the Halo9 and I'm very happy with the large 9" screen and the sound from the speaker setup is awesome to me. Here's a link to a Halo9 thread.

 

Any pictures of your installation? Did you have to cut any OEM wires or this is a plug and play?

 

I know I am. At least with the JBL option. I don't care about album art. I prefer to look at where I'm driving.

In a $40k pick up, yes.

 

I can get some later.
You make the interface harness with maestro RR kit and it's all plug and play in truck, no splicing or that, all plugs.. Once you have harness made it takes 3 minutes to install.
Very easy.
