New back-up light... Opinions please

    Just installed a new backup light on my access cab V6. It's a 4" tractor/implement light.

    What do you guys/girls think? Does it look out of place?

    It would probably look better if there were 2..... just my opinion though.

    I agree, one kinda looks goofy. I'd hook up two. My pappaw put some on his truck, cause his truck was so old he couldn't find new lights for his he installed some, if yours are as bright as his you may only need one, but I'd get two.

    Thanks guys, I'll look into mounting two. I'll tuck them up into the bumper some how.

    Personally, I think it's one of those things that you are not going to really notice on the rear like you would the front. It's one of those things that if you are not looking for it, you don't think about. If one is perfectly functional, then I would leave as is. Two may stick out like a soar thumb. JMHO.

    I like it. It's functional. I wouldn't put a second one on unless you need the light. The second one would go right in front of your 7-pin attachment so it seems it'd get in the way if you tow.

    LEER Shell with dome lights operated with 3 way switches, aux backup lights with relay and 3 position switch, modified wiring to compass/temp display and clock to include switch that disables dimming function (poor man's DRL solution), Scan Gauge 2
    I've had those kind of lights for back up lights before. I think they look odd, and the pattern is not great. A slim set of halogen 55W fog lights works great. There are two holes in the factory bumper that are convieniently located to mount them. This tucks them up far enough you are not likely to hit them off road.

    I think it looks fine and if it works, great. Now... nobody has asked... I'm assuming that you ran a dedicated hot wire for it? Simply tapping into the reverse lights could buy you some trouble down the line.

    How did you wire it up?

    I ran dedicated wires back to the light. I installed a Blue Sea fuse panel some time ago. Used an oznium rocker switch for the light so I can have it on when I want.

    Seems there's a mixed bag of opinions... Having said I will install another light, the one I have does give off enough light. But I like those bumper mounted circular lights so I might install some of those as long as I pluck up the courage to drill through the bumper.

    I had 2 Harbor Freight lights mounted like that, HAD being the key word. Hard to have something hanging down like that living in CO.

    I finally found a set-up I like...

    Picked these lights up from Meijer when I was in Michigan a few weeks back. I prefer how symmetrical the back of the truck looks now. Having two lights allow me to angle each one to shed light on the areas immediately behind each rear corner.

    That looks like what I have on mine. They work great. I have mine on a three way switch so I can turn them on when parked if I need to.
