Look at my first post, thats about as close as i can get, i know it bolts to the OEM spots in the roof, When i eventually get one I will probably run some weather stripping under the flat parts to help avoid damaging the paint

Instead of speculating - either someone call to ask this concern or someone who actually has one please comment.

I have seen baja racks and they are good quality and strong. I cant imagine they would design something that contact the roof/metal.

Oh I'm sorry for giving an honest opinion.I never said a thing about the quality of strength of the product at all. I just don't like how it mounts and can really see damage being done when adding a lot of weight.

no need to apologize - everyone is saying its contacting based on one picture vs fact.

Like I said - I cant imagine ANY good company making a product that would damage your vehicle with our without the allowed weight they advertise.

I am not saying I am 100% right - but my gut tells me there is no contact cause that would be a VERY $hitty design.

    Hello Guys,

Here's a bit more of information about this new rack that we just released:

    TacomaSeries-Promo_8677243af7b7a183e435e74bea02460ca4c96922.jpg
Finally we have completed the design and testing of the Toyota Tacoma 4 door Gen 2 rack (2005 thru 2011), , this rack installs on existing mounts (4) located on the roof of the vehicle, the weather stripping has to be removed to puncture 2 holes on the plastic strip per mount (total of 8), once the holes are made the weather stripping installs in the original position and the brackets go on top. We do recommend adding silicon or RTV to each bolt to avoid any leaks inside the vehicle. The racks adds 6.5” to the total height of the vehicle.
This rack is in stock and sells for $575.00 plus shipping, for more information please go to:

Want. Looks like it would be perfect for transporting a couple of fly fishing pontoon boats between rivers.

Guys, I know this is a bit old thread but I just want to let you know I have this new design roof rack/basket for about a month now and it served me well. I'm in a Pro Audio business and I can put 3 to 4 15" size speakers cab on top (around 300lbs) without any problem. It maybe a little bit expensive but I think it's worth it. And it looks pretty good too.

Is the weight limit for the rack or the top of the Tacoma,i would like to buy this but i don't want to load it up with 200lbs and watch my roof cave in!

P.S. Is there any Mods. to the rack that would allow a kayak mount on it?

    Nice looking rack!

I am not in the market for one now, but once my truck is paid off, I'd like to start a black-out project that would include new sliders, ARB bumper, wheels, and a baja rack.

I'll keep this one in mind.

I never have any problem with mine. This thing is great. Even before they offered it to market, I called them already so I can have one and it never disappoint me. It is exactly mounted to the roof rack spot and won't make any damage to your roof.
