    Yes. You need to open the tailgate to get at the latches for the cover, but you can close the cover or the gate first. Some the gate has to be closed before the cover is closed.

    How do the factory rails get moved? Are there pre-drilled holes that you tap into?

    There are drop down brackets that the cover side rails bolt to. The factory rail mounts to the bottom of the drop brackets.

    I've had the old gen MX4 and the new, besides those weird seal things they added to the top by the cab, its exactly the same, rod seemed the same, install the same, etc.

    @mrtn
    I just ordered the MX4 yesterday at a great price, in addition to the $100 rebate. Reach out to @eccracer104 for a quote today as the rebate ends this weekend.

    So I just got around to installing the MX4 that I ordered a few weeks back during the $100 rebate sale. I got one of the "new" designs (has the rounded corner cab pieces) but it does not have the finished end caps for the rails. I called BAKFlip, but the representative could not find a part number for the end caps. She thought the version of the MX4 for the Tacoma does not come with the new finished end caps.

    Anyone get one of the new versions of the MX4 with "finished" end caps on the rails?

    My new and older version did not have finished endcaps (if you are referring to the end by the tailgate). It's aluminum so it shouldnt rust, just looks kind of crappy being unfinished.

    Absolutely please with the MX4. I feel like it is the best all-around cover.

    Until you're caught in a hail storm, you should see my Dad's, not a single dent on his aluminum Raptor, but the MX4 cover looks like a adolescent's face during puberty.

    Has anyone ordered and installed the MX4 in the last few months? I'm also seeing information on their website and on Amazon that says I will lose use of the rails and tie down cleats. Also, I want to get a molle rack system that works with this cover, anyone have experience with a molle system and the MX4

    An update for the "Finished" rail end caps. I got an email back from BakFlip stating that they had them and would send to me.

    Part Numbers are: 351B0081 & 351B0082.

    So what's the point of the caps if they have a hole? Just to cover the bare aluminum end? You'd think it be better if they closed off that end completely and forced the water to empty out the front drain pipes...

    I understand what you mean, would be better if they were just solid on the end. So yeah, they only just make it look a little more finished. However might be easy to "plug" the open hole with something (Bondo?) And spray paint black
