If it had been carbed (choice in '04), I'd have run it 'til it died. No bump start on injection without juice. :D

Just putting this out there. Nothing to do with the original post, except it is about batteries:

Heat is more detrimental to batteries than cold is.

I'm referencing fully charged batteries. As you know, a discharged battery will freeze and that will ruin it. But apples to apples, high heat is harder on and will shorten the life of normal flooded automotive batteries faster than low cold will.

Cold is notorious for making engines harder to start. That will deplete the charge.

Yes, I've operated in both extremes of MN, TX, CO, FL, and AZ (Yuma). And in the temperates of GA, TN, CA.
My Taco batt is still the original (5 yrs now). I just make sure it stays clean, tight, and topped up with distilled water. In the 20 years I owned my Civic, I went through only 2 batts. Both lasted 10 years each. No, I don't expect that long of life on the Taco batt, but so far so good.

It happens on MC's too. Two of my bikes (KTM 990 & KTM Duke) have parastatic draws and neither are ridden as much as they probably should be. Both have had dead batteries from sitting, which was particularly concerning on the Duke because at the time the bike was three months old. Charged it but it wouldn't keep a charge for more than a day. Took it back to the selling dealership for a warranty replacement and was told to ride more and the battery wouldn't go dead. I bought a new battery (from someplace else) and haven't had an issue since. I also make a point now to plug both bikes into a Battery Tender if they've been sitting for more than a couple of weeks.

What any of this has to do with Tacoma's of the battery in a Merc somewhere in Canada only the OP knows...

Yes, I got the Noco 10, Love that charger, not to mention it has the Desulfate feature. That alone can bring back a battery suffering from less then ideal usage.

I'm sorry, every time I try to read your post my eyes are drawn to your sig-line...

Hopefully having so many vehicles, you know how to keep a battery charged.
