OK. I really have no idea what it would cost as I haven't had to purchase one in like 40 years...

I rebuild my own when needed.

I think you can get a new OEM but I think theyd probably be $500 range?? maybe imported from Japan the DENSO's sold at ROCKAUTO are REMANs, they do list a few new ones that are TYC brand and other no names which are the Chinese make more than likely

Anything that Toyota sells with a -84 at the end of the part number is rebuilt, but I would trust Toyota has high standards for rebuilds. A rebuild if done right can be just as good as a new one as long as they use quality parts.

I can’t believe we are still having this conversation. I will gladly give the OP a grand for the truck and end his misery :der:

So turns out @j4roe was correct. I drove to AZ yesterday to help out and turns out there was a problem with the 3 pin connector. Specifically the IG wire that tells the alternator to turn on was loose at the fuse box connector EA1. And the L wire responsible for turning the CHARGE light on was cut clean off. I had to drive back to CA the same day last night but I am going to re-pin the connector and replace the wires as well as shield them better so they don’t get damaged in the future. We were able to start it and I jumped the IG pin and the voltage would go up to 14.56 so once I finish the harness and ship it back to OP everything should be working again. Thanks to everyone that’s helped diagnose the issue so far!

My research and cross reference game is TENACIOUS. Glad you guys got it. Really sorry that I couldn't have helped out directly. After I realized OP lived 50 miles from me it wasn't as realistic for me to just "swing by" real quick.

I would encourage you to delete your post and make a fresh thread of your own

Tagging onto one that ended over 4 yrs ago might not get you max attention

I seem to be having the same problem as
    Lucy1stgentaco
Which wire is the exciter? All of the other things I have tried. I even replaced the alternator. no change.
