so before i went to costo i decided to clean the positive battery terminal so i could do the swap in the costco parking lot and take the core in when i bought the new one. battery is 3 1/2 years old and the positive terminal has never been off. took me 15 minutes to work my way thru the corrosion and getting the terminal to spread was a bitch. the copper terminal connector is a piece of crap, very thin and bends but does not spread. after prying and twisting i finally got it off but in doing so the positive post was turning and lifted up about a 1/8 inch. i then separated the copper piece of junk from the two cables and soaked it in baking soda and water. had to change the soda and water 3 or 4 times before it stopped fizzing. that copper connector has nooks and crannies that corrosion builds up in. next time i change the battery i am going to buy a new copper connector from toyota. so there you have it, what a goat rope.

Lots of corrosion on my terminals too. Looks fine while connected at a quick glance. Only when you take them off did I see all the acid corrosion.

I spray a little Corrosion X once every few years...never any corrosion, same with my airplane wing panels during annual inspection. Great stuff for all sorts of electronics...improves electrical contacts as well. Google it and keep a can on the shelf...will last for years.

    Buy AGM batteries.
Don't need to worry about corrosion or deep discharges .
