    What's the correct way to hook a portable jump starter to the terminals to keep power to the vehicle when changing a battery? I'm guessing you just hook the jump starter cables to the truck's battery cable terminals, and leave them until you complete the swap. Let me know if I'm wrong.

    You can do that, just be careful that the positive terminal doesn't make contact with any of the metal of the truck.
