New battery won't fit

I recently got a new battery and the bar that runs over the battery will not bolt back down.
Like the battery is to tall.
I got the same battery that was in it so I don't understand why it won't fit.
Has anybody had this problem and know a solution?

 

By same battery do you mean brand, CCA? Because there are also different case sizes. Wider, taller, shorter, etc. let's start with the simple but dumb stuff.
1- Is the battery all the way in the tray, it's easy for it to catch on something perhaps even the electrical connections.
2- are the vertical rods that hold the cross bar properly positioned in the tray, sometimes they drop down, rotate etc. which could cause what u experience.
3- did you buy the wrong case size? Or maybe the auto store gave you the wrong case size.

What is the battery group size that you purchased? Tacoma use 24 and 27.

 

Yes the wires are connected to the terminals the rods are the right way but it seams like the auto store gave me the wrong case size.I didn't know they came in different case sizes. I brought in my old battery that wouldn't even hold a charge anymore to the auto parts store and told them I need the same battery, and they pulled one off the shelf after I told them all the vehicle specs. It looked the same and i thought it was the same size case. I am guessing the case on the battery they gave me is a little bit wider than the one that was in it because the cross brace dosent fit over the top.

Had the same problem with the Northstar 27F I recently installed.

Solved it with a TRD Battery Hold Down. (Tell @Coupe you need longer/extended threaded rods with it.)

 

I got the same problem when I ordered from the Northstar battery group buy. Are these still available from Coupe?

Just put the hold down under the Northstar handle , its designed that way if you look at the way the battery case is shaped

 

Why not just bring it back and get the right battery

 

Understood, but I preferred to have the handle under the hold down and I like the way Coupe's TRD hold downs look.

I'm not sure what battery the OP bought, but 27F IS the right battery for my truck. Northstar's version just happens to be taller than OEM.

 

my replacement 27f seemed a tad taller than the 27f that was there. A little gentle persuasion of the rods and the top hold-down bracket took care of it.....
