I finally got around to building a short bed deck in the back of my DCLB for camping trips. Found some hinged top storage bins that fit perfectly, three across, for carrying all my gear, while leaving the space under the deck for long and flat items (tent, fishing gear, gun cases, etc).

Deck is simply a 57" long piece of 3/4" plywood with outdoor carpeting glued onto it. Two 5/4"x4" cross pieces for support (one on the edge that you can see and the other riding in the notch in the side of the bed liner) and this thing is snug and solid.

I ordered the bins from GlobalIndustries.com (Distribution Container With Hinged Lid 23-3/4" x19-1/4" x12-1/2", product# WB257813), and got real lucky with the fit. They fit perfectly snug across the width of the bed.

And here's a shot with all six bins on board.

The open space in the back is for the cooler and other large items. Taking it out this weekend. Will let you know how it holds up.

The bins were described as gray, but as you can see, they're more of a flat earth/desert tan kinda color. No biggie.

    Very important update:

I don't have to buy a new cooler. It fits with literally 1/16" to spare.

Yeah, I guess I could just turn it the other way, but I need the extra room for larger stuff.
