There's been numbers thrown around but nothing definite. I'm waiting to hear back from Bilstein on this.

The person I asked the question too was someone on IG but looks like he deleted it. He was sponsored by bilstein.

Last time I talked to him he was above 25k miles with no rebuild. He said bilstein has no recommended mileage to rebuild, only to rebuild if they were leaking/blown shock.

Obviously it depends how you drive your truck, he did more camping and desert running.

Yup, just heard back from Bilstein:

We do not specify a particular service life for our shocks. Service life really depends on mileage and usage. If the shocks have been used for heavy off road use you may want to service the dampers every 30-50k miles.

If they are used more for commuting/daily driving they would have service life similar to the OE shocks 60-80K miles.

That's really good information. Fox, King, Icon, etc have that info burried away.

My friends with Gen 1 Raptors told me that the OE Ford manual state the OEM Fox dampers need rebuilt every 30k!

The specs on the 8100 series shocks state that the rear shocks are good for 0" to 1.5" lift. That isn't very much lift.

What is the ideal spring setup for such a small amount of lift? AAL? Full leaf pack? 1" lift block?

    @yotafiend

From your pics I see the elongated hole on the spring seat is incorrect. Per the directions it should be facing inward. Page 5

Was thinking what would the purpose of that elongated hole be? Then it dawned on me... if you were to adjust those coilovers under load, there is a possibility that you could extrude the the aluminum threads. However, that elongated hole could allow you to lube the threads while adjusting and later degrease them, thereby preventing damage to them as they turn.

I love the ride with my 8112s but my only complaint with them is that Bilstein didn't provide ANY information with them on use, care, or adjustment of their product. You'd think for what they are charging for them they would be singing all the possibilities and features of their product.

If anyone has a specific question about the 8112 or 8100 please post it. I will be calling Bilstein in the morning.

    1. Elongated hole purpose?
    2. Max turns on compression/rebound values?
    3.?
    4.?
    5.?
