Well let us know how they are, considering we haven't seen a single review from them yet.

Are these comparable to the coil overs from Kings, Fox, Icon? They seem a bit more expensive.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of suspension can chime in... but is it actually unique that the bilsteins have "3 stages of compression valving... 2 stages of rebound"... do the Icon and King equivalents only have single stage?? Does that even matter??

From my anecdotal experience it seems my friends with Kings and Icons are regularly pulling htem off to have them rebuilt... whereas I've ran factory bilsteins to 160k miles with plenty of offroading. I became a huge fan of bilstein from my BMW days and even noticed it back then, ran bilstein coilovers on my E36 M3 and beat the shit out of them for 60k miles... sold it to a friend who continued to beat the shit out of them and NEVER needed a rebuild.

Seems to me bilsteins simply don't require rebuilds nearly as often if at all, but no idea if thats really true or what the reason would be... is there a reason? Or am I just flat wrong on this?

I know a lot about motorcycle suspension. The compression zones are just a standard digressive piston and a bottoming cone, possibly with passages on the side. The tertiary zone is some type of collar that slides around the bottoming cone as a last line of defense to keep from bottoming. I assume it just closes any passages around the cone

The two stage rebound is just the piston and then an internal spring to keep it from clanking. Looks like there might be some extra piston that it pushes on but I cannot tell.

    Ok so the first impression!
These things ride great out of the box! You cant really feel the front but can feel the rear. That's cause of the icon stage 7 Omega's. I'm really impressed! I like them but Very torn honestly ! And that's always my reservation on new setups. I had the same with the stage 7 and with the BP51 and kings, and fox and 6112s. Id really love to try the rears with the fronts for sure.

    Positives
    SUUUUPER Smoooth! (wow)
    Looks amazing
    Rides great on road
    Great design
    Amazing technology
    Very well thought through
    Excellent componets

    Negative
    Heights
    Custom build options
    Spring choices
    No rear to pair with!

Alright so let me justify my negatives
I played with the heights like most will do! For me, this is hard cause I have a heavy SOS Concepts Front Bumper and a 9500lb winch. We made the adjustment out to see where it sits and it is not going to be as high as I think most will want. Also, the ride like any of the other choice seems to deteriorate with height ( given).

    Custom Options
Since it is so new hard to know if custom options are going to be available ( doubtful). Being a racer and form trophy truck driver I like to play with my setup and change things. Not just spring rates. i tinker and find ways to maximize every bit of shock that I have. I feel these are so well developed that's going to limit my options. Real bummer for me! But I'm that way! I know I have 80 hrs in my Icons changing this and that and trying to get the best that I can get. Really doubtful that the majority of consumers will embark on the same issue here! Again its so well done!

    Spring Choices
This is going to turn off a lot of people! Spring choices Well doubt they will have them. I have yet to tear the springs off and see if a Eibach or any other will fit! Hope so cause we get many always trying to go to a higher rate! We shall see!

    Rear
Temporarily no rear to pair with! Those are scheduled to release in March from the word I got! So we shall see ( again )

So 2or 3 issues we shall know here in the future which 1 will also have a slight impact on the first negative!

Again I'm still in wow phase after driving straight out the box!

    Biggest question

ARE THESE WORTH THE $ ????

In my opinion yes! Look I already sold out of the 12 sets I had yesterday and only have 1 set left (Pending sale) I can get more, sure! so I'm not being a salesman here! I think if you can overlook the negatives I posted these are amazing! Amazing!

I get asked, " are these better than King Fox or Icon?" Look I've tried and installed and tested King, Fox, Icon, ADS, BP51, Radflo, Sway a Way, Ironman, Dobinson, Pedders, 5100, 6112s, Pro Comp and soon the new Revtek and TJM stuff. Each has its highlights and characteristics that can shine over the others and has its differences! I often say to customers pick your flavor!

    Lastly!

The first 10 miles felt great! I had that superior suspension mindset! It is the feeling when you drive a high-end car like a Lambo or r8 or Ferrari, Bentley, etc. Some would think placebo. But here the thing these truely are the latest and greatest coilover out ! So with that awesome ride! I was left with just wow! these are great! Even in the little bit of dirt trail, I hit! These really worked well! All $1900 worth! Makes me want to buy another Tacoma just to bolt these and the rears Bilstein bypasses ( coming soon ) up to and use as an alternate vehicle. FML! Yes, that has been the thought since the first 1miles. Buy another tacoma and run your Stage 7 on your current and the new one run these 8112s and keep it simply as a driver ocasional fun truck!

Well, Guys! I think I have a meeting with Bilstein tomorrow for a bit to discuss a few things so we shall see what comes about! I'm sure my folks at King and Icon will be asking about the experience as well!

    Take Care!

    Bigger Taller Slower
All research I've done at bilstien/vendor sites is these are 2nd gen specific. 3rd gen oem setups are one inch taller (1/2" at the shock) perhaps this is why you are having trouble with the heights.

Same part number for 2005-2018 if you go to bilstein site
    https://cart.bilsteinus.com/results...01397611050741&submodelid=5813732493639759084

Just like King Fox and Icon Same shock from 2005 to current

So most other sites haven't even touched these outside of sema and special events! 1.5 years ago yes the plan was for a separate part number and shock. Originally I changed the part number to keep the other sites from even being able to say they had them. Plenty of shops claimed to have gotten them last week yet no one had and they never posted pictures or even shown proof! That's the thing too most sites cover a broad range of products and applications so to be on the up of whats what takes some time. We specialize in Tacoma, Tundra, 4runner, FJ, Sequoia, and Raptor. Unlike other shops, I actually own these vehicles too, well the Sequoia is sold (kinda) Raptor is gone too, and no more FJ ( but one lives at the shop )
