Thank you. That fabricated 9” of yours is quite sexy. No denying that.

I had to go back and go through the options to see where I came up with that figure.

    Here’s how I configured them.

Looking at it now, I must’ve come up with 2k prior to upgrading to 35 spline chromoly axles and all new bearings in the 60. I’ll fix that above.

If one were to add the cost of having bearings pressed and shock mounts welded, that would add some cost as well. Obviously, that is, if they were not able to do these things themselves.

I don’t know if they do custom widths TBH. I’m guessing, since the 60 is designed to reuse the factory axles, no. I never asked, because I wanted stock width.

    @jberry813

I guess it depends on how you configure things.

When I first called ECGS, I was told the 60 had a base price of $2080. That was open diff, reuse OEM axles and brakes. They were willing to install my axles and backing plates if I sent them down there.

I could’ve had a bolt in 60 for less than the cost of the base Currie housing.

So, that’s where I’m coming from I suppose.

Nice and clean install, should last longer than a month. If this was available for a 3rd Gen I’d consider it over putting in an ARB rear locker.

Why would anyone chose to upgrade to a dana 60 and still use the stock oem shafts? I guess so yiu know exactly where your axle will break haha

I’m sure they can do it. Stephen rattled off a few other rigs they’ve built these for.

Worth a call if you’re serious.

Thanks, I just might. Last week I got a great deal on an ARB locker but really don’t want to pay $1000 to have it installed.

The only thing is this may be overkill for 4.30 gears

I gotcha now. I obviously was trying to compare apples to apples when I built the ECGS 60 and compared it to Currie. If you're not doing a back brace/truss, fill port, and drain on the 60 and reusing stock Toyota axles, that wouldn't exactly be apples to apples. The stock axle shafts aren't exactly strong and Currie includes 35 spline axles and bearings in their package. FWIW I did do a backbrace and fill/inspection port (no drain) and upgraded to 3.5" axle tubes...but I'm also just a short hair shy of full retard. Glad to see another option out there in the market.

Oh yeah, IMO it would be a damn shame to build a 60 and reuse the stock axle hafts. Hell the axle shafts are why I went aftermarket in the first place!

I thought putting an Air Locker in a 3rd gen axle would end up a pretty strong axle. Not Dana 60 strong but a step above the old 8" anyway. Or am I confused, maybe that's only TRDs with those 8.75" axles with the new lockers?

Either way that ECGS D60 is dead sexy @HolyHandGrenade. Pure pr0n.

The 60 has 3.5” diameter axle tubes. They’re also 7/16” thick. I went with 35 spline chromoly axles. No way I was doing this and keeping stock axles.

I also wasn’t going to put old wheel cylinders and brakes back on it. I figured I might as well just go with discs.

A back brace isn’t an option, obviously, with the rear Diff cover. The OX has a HD cover so there’s protection there.

I asked about a truss. They said they could do it, but guaranteed I would not bend these tubes.

I’ll have to take your word on anything 3rd Gen related. I don’t know anything about those.

Well... I DO know they can’t get a Supercharger :D

    :boink: Third Gen guys.

Yeah...you probably would have a lot bigger problems if you somehow manage to bend that!

Yeah, he sent that to me in an email. I thought it was a typo! I verified it the next time we spoke.

Yeah, all the TRD models are 8.75” and OR and Pro have the electronic lockers from the factory.

But, the Sport which I have has no locker (had to get Sport since needed long bed manual). So, about to put in the ARB, an added plus is I’ll have OBA.

Just floating around some me ideas when I saw this install. Probably a lot more costly with aftermarket drive shafts, etc like mentioned earlier.

Yeah, I don't know anything definitely on 3rd gens. If the axles themselves are the same 8.75" I'd have no worries with an Air Locker in it until you start really punishing it like @HolyHandGrenade. But if they are still using the old 8.4" for non-locked axles then that would change things.

They’re 8.75” so maybe I’ll just stay with the ARB. The non TRD and SR have the 8”

I’ll definitely keep this in mind. My buddy has a 2nd gen I’ll probably buy that’ll need some work and upgrades.

Can I just buy a set of OX stickers then paste them on the diff and call it good?

Some of us just don't have wads off cash laying around

I know how to drive and not break stuff lol. This is a nice option, but can’t get 5.29 gearing so I’m stuck with 4.88 or jumping to 5.38. And by the time you add a locker and everything else to it, it’s not a whole heck of a lot cheaper than other 9” options out there
