Alimony.... that's gotta bite. Child support I'm 100% behind, but the other? Perhaps in special circumstances... but 'just because'?

The Tacoma is my first truck also. I love this truck ( TRD SPORT).
I've not read a word on here before purchase.

    Only pointers are:

Don't believe everything you read. No vehicle is perfect. Do your research what you want / trim. A 4cyl. or v6 . 4x4 ?
Other than that it's all comfort and cosmetics.
    Don't be the guy who after bringing it home 2 weeks later " I should've gotten a 4x4 " or " shit, I want a TRD Sport" .

Take a test drive on both 4cyl and v6.
TRD , OFF ROAD SR5 look through brochures what you want. Some trims have all on there.

I took about 2 months deciding which model and not regretted once.

Just got my first truck ever (19 trd ORSB) too!

I have loved the truck from day one and am having fun with all the mods/upgrades. It’s my daily work-truck, but I bought it for the backcountry too. Hope you enjoy your new ride!!

The V6’s are actually pretty stout engines.

11.8:1 compression ratio, all forged internals, port and direct injection, etc.

First truck here too. Came from sedans, SUVs, and a minivan. Biggest adjustment that I haven't gotten used to is no weather proof trunk space. Everything is fine when the sun is out, but the moment it snows or rains, trips to the supermarket become an issue. If a topper works for the lifestyle, great! I use the bed for bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards.

Exactly. It gets up and go when floored. I have no complaints.
You cannot complain about the truck after doing mods on it like big ass tires, 3 in lifts, heavy ass wheels etc. Or " my v8 had more torque and power than this truck!!" .

I don't get people who complain about the power.
Have test driven it ?? It's not like the truck lost 50% power from new.

Don't be that guy. The Tundra that went a million miles had all the service done by the book at many different dealers with OEM filters and fluids. He trusted the engineers.

Get a tonneau. Especially the tri-fold ones.
It's less than 2 minutes removing the whole cover.
There's so many out there depending on budget.
Soft rolling, hard tri-fold , one piece etc.

Research and get the exact truck you want. Don’t settle. You will keep this for years, based on your subi lifespan. And most importantly, enjoy!

DONT BUY A TACOMA NOW! Wait till 2020 and get one with adjustable seats!!
It is a fabulous truck and they WILL run fo-ever, but you shouldn't have to sacrifice comfort for that.

    or not.

You'll thank me for this later. Take an extended test drive. Drive on the freeway ,hills etc. Rent one if you can . This way you know how it drives . Totally different from your Subaru. That being said, I love mine .

Check for bed/rear bumper alignment prior to purchase.
    Enjoy your new truck.

Even if you are buying new, ask for an extended test drive on several different low mileage used ones. Experiences vary with the 3rd gen and the ones that people traded out of early will give you a good idea of what you MIGHT encounter.

its a nice truck but does have its flaws. main thing is to get an extended test drive. get it on a the highway and see how it acts. cruise it around town.. put as many miles as possible on it.

lots of truth to complaints posted here. don't let the apologists distract you.
