I have had Glocks (still have a 23)...I just personally like the XD better. Yes, it's not been around as long, and is consequently not as "tested" as the Glock...however, I shoot the XD better, and I believe it is a more accurate pistol (at least where the XD and the Glock I have are concerned).

I don't/wouldn't carry either except when hunting (which is extremely rare - I like my .357 much better for that).

    Just my humble opinion.

Not new but one I still like to carry some. Kahr K40 in stainless, with night sights. I melted and polished it a little then checkered the frontstrap at 20 lpi. It was then sent to Virgil Tripp at Cobra Chrome for a satin hard chrome finish. Top notch work on finishing.

Some might recognize the name Tripp, as in TRI Inc. (pre STI or SVI). Damn I'm showing my age.

What brand is that holster? You're left handed I suppose.

Wow, my bad. I just glanced and it looked like it was placed at the small of the back.

Shot a match today. Mostly concealed up close stages. I kicked a## just because the good shooters went to a 4-gun match that I didn't know about.:(

Any way just had to show you a picture of the range setting. We literally shoot in his house. Part is underground. I'm talking up to 30 yd. shots on some stages. Great match, good people, and pizza for lunch with this veiw. Eat your hearts out.

i went and put about 50 rounds thru my new xd-40 today...enjoyed it...itll take some getting used to...i like that it kicks less than the glock...but i still shoot better with the glock (which is a good thing considering its my daily carry)

it *felt* like it kicked less but it seemed louder...could be my imagination...

    didnt shoot bad...definately enjoy it

i like the feel of the glock trigger too...cant explain it but it feels better...

id have taken pics of the targets but they looked awful because i took a girl with me and she has a hard time not anticipating the shot...after about 50 rounds or so she gets better...but shes all over the place at first

    I carry a S&W M&P 45, because I cannot afford to carry a cop around 24/7.

i think the Glock "shoots" better because of its barrel /grip angle. I think the Glock's trigger "feels better" because it actually has a " partial reset" feature in the trigger/firing pin mechanism which allows the operator to cycle the weapon through battery with out resetting the trigger to its "home" position after the first shot, thus reducing trigger pull weight.:D

To each his own. I rave about the Glock model 23 because i have literally shot the sh!t out of it and it just keeps going, kinda like how i drive my truck :)
But I'm not ignorant enough to say its the best in every situation every time.No firearm ever will be. Glock has my business and if they keep up the great work they will have my future business as well. ( like toyota has) quality and reliabilty proven over time.

Springfield is a good company and the XD is a nice gun. However, last I checked it hasn't been adopted by a single large police department or a major military but it is a fairly new gun. Glock is the most used handgun in the world for military use and is also used by approx. 75% of the world's police departments. You can walk into any gun store and guy a Glock mag and parts for the Glock (if they ever fail which is extremely rare) are readily available. The Glock needs little to no routine maintenance to keep going and is the gun everyone else is trying to copy.

Years ago I decided to go with the big three for autos: Glock, Sig and HK. These are the only brands I currently buy but there are a lot of interesting guns out there.

Kahr has gained a lot of ground with nice concealable autos and the XD is really catching on in the US with civilians that appreciate a good gun. I need a 50 cal Desert Eagle too.

Anybody hear anything bad about HK p2000SK? I plan on getting one here in the coming month and all i've heard are good things about it. It comes in 9mm, .40S&W, and .357sig. I'm leaning towards the .357sig. My roommate has a USP .45 and that thing shoots great. Doesn't even feel like a .45

Great gun... I own a P2000 and will be buying an SK soon. I can't remember the version names but I'd go with the light DAO trigger. That is a KILLER carry gun. I have the DA/SA trigger which is OK but the heavy DA first shot isn't my favorite. The 357sig is a good bullet but consider this.... you'll get almost the exact same ballistics using 9mm 117gr +p+ and the 40 135gr +p cor-bon is also plenty nasty. You'll save about 50% going with a 9mm and about 35% going with 40. 357 sig is too expensive to shoot a lot in my book. I buy 9mm by the 1000 and it is still affordable. 357 is right up there price wise with the 10mm. I love my big 10 but shoot it much less than my other guns. HK mags are a little pricey compared with Glock mags. I got a deal and bought 10 mags for $250 which is very cheap. Most of the time they are over $30/each.

I know this is responding to a rather older post, but how small is your wife? I'm not that big and never had a problem with my Mossberg 500. I don't remember it being all that heavy. Handguns, however, are problematic for me because my wrists are small--my four-year-old, truck though he is, can wear my watch. I never really felt confident with a handgun--the shotgun though......that is pure joy. Some time at the gun range with a shotgun and she'd be ready to rock if she needed it.
