I bought a brand new then 2006 Ranger and it was the same truck it was in 1993. Once I joined the Ranger forum most people complained about how the ranger never got updated. The last year of the Ranger, 2011, was still the exact same truck as the 1993. I can't say I'm surprised Ford pulled it from the market.

I bought one of the last ones made. I knew it was the same drivetrain as my brother's 2003 which he got 280,000 miles in.I got 290,00 out of my first car which was a 1990 Ranger.I dogged the piss out of that truck for years.I buy base models anyway so I wasn't bothered that it hadn't changed (didn't want change) . About six months later I hit a bear on the interstate with the 2011 at about 81 mph at midnight which led to my first non Ford, my taco.

Owned 2 rangers, both had over 200k miles with hardly any issues (starters and solenoids.. 1 a/c compressor). They were good trucks.

I had a 1990 Ford Ranger 4x4 for 14 years before buying my Tacoma , that truck was great

I actually like the Baja. The turbo one is very cool. Just too small a bed. But, I suppose it really wasn't that much smaller than the Explorer Sport Trac's!

The BRAT...now that was even cooler.

I'm confused. You got one letter about them changing the weight rating of your truck. I thought they did this to a few trucks way back when they first acknowledged the Tacoma had rear suspension issues. How is that three recalls in one envelope?

^That's the sticker recall for higher recommended tire pressure on the LT tires.

This. "Come off the same line" means nothing in today's modern flexible mfg environment. I posted photos earlier showing they in fact come off the same line as the Chevy Express 3/4-ton and 1-ton vans, with which they share no common parts.

Tundras and Tacos come off the same line in San Antonio, from what I remember watching.

    Bingo.

Unrelated half baked meaningless opinion and I'd hate to see it but...
In GM's case, from an amateur economist perspective, I see GM making a tough decision in the future and unfortunately pulling the plug on the GMC.
Based on financial history and current situation of GM, it borderline makes sense.

Out of the new models, I think the Yukon looks better than the Tahoe (and the Escalade for that matter. The GMC trucks look better than the Chevys too, especially the 2500s.

The Chevy dealer I work at received it's first Colorado today. I did not get to drive it, but I did look it over and had a few observations. The truck looks good inside and out, but the back seat is very much like a padded park bench with a very upright seat that is not as comfortable as my Tacoma. It seemed a bit cramped back there. Of course, the Tacoma isn't exactly a limo either. I did like the four wheel disc brakes, the deeper bed and the power seats. I still would not buy one over a Tacoma mainly because of the engine choices. Trucks should have more torque than horsepower and the car based engines in the Colorado do not. I also doubt the resale values of the Colorado will keep pace with Tacomas. Very few vehicles do. In the end I have to say it's a nice truck and will probably sell well, but I doubt it will take many sales away from Toyota. It might attract Chevy buyers looking for something smaller and more fuel efficient than the Silverado. Only time will tell.

Very much agree. Although, many will agree that the Bowtie has too much history to void.

If you look at the sales numbers it's clear Chevy isn't going anywhere. To think it would is just laughable. GMC on the other hand doesn't even come close to the sales numbers that Chevy throws down (when comparing the carry over cars like Tahoe, Silverado, etc...)

I'm still not sure why GMC even exists. Why not just roll up the nicer looks and better options and make them available on the Chevy vehicles? No need to have another brand. It's the last one on my list that I thought GM should cut. My friend and I made a list back in 2008 of all the brands that GM should get rid of and for the most part, we've been pretty spot on.

As an old Chevy owner I really don't understand why Chevy makes trucks... I think they should do the exact opposite of what you just proposed.

Since they've pigeonholed GMC into making SUVs and trucks only I really think it would make sense to drop the Chevy truck line and go for GMC trucks, GMC SUVs, Chevy passenger cars and sports cars... Split the car and truck line like Dodge did with the Ram split and call it good... especially since no one likes the looks of the chevys in general when you directly compare them to a GMC. It just happens to be that they make and ship more Chevys so they sell more. I have no doubt that GMCs would sell better if they made more. Even for the Colorado Canyon release they said they made like 1/3 as many GMCs as they did Chevys.... why? It wasn't customer demand, there is none yet... it's purely just because there's more chevy dealerships and the dealerships happened to order more

I never understood the two lines, Chevy and GMC.
Ford and Chevy fight for best selling truck all the time.
I know I'll be corrected if I'm wrong......
If Chevy combined the two lines they would blow Ford out of the water with sales #s.
Atleast that's the way I remember it from back when I cared about it...1990s.

ford really does it too with the lincoln truck, just a nicer f 150. as much koolaid as america in general drinks i dont think gm could touch the f 150 market. thats just like the fj cruiser wouldnt really hurt the jeep market and if jeep made a compact pick up, it wouldnt hurt the tacoma niche. everything that is now, is because of what it has done the past 30-40 years and would take quite a bit of time to chip away at another mfg hold on the market
