My response was directed at a failed mention of potential issues of the Colorado as if there have been no Tacoma issues
Honestly, to speculate issues is a bit narrowing imo. I hope they don't.
It's a moot point for me as I will not own one. But, I'm also not going to bash an American automaker or any ftm, seems unproductive and childish. I've already posted my opinion on human error, it happens.
GM needs a win and I hope they get one.

Honestly the only reason I could be tempted to buy a GM is with a 200k bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty. And I would still unload it at 125k miles even though it'd be worth 30% of what I paid.

My god that bumper is ugly.

At least they have a tailgate that looks decently strong. The part that juts out at the top will add a ton of strength.

I stopped by the GMC dealer Sunday and checked out his only Canyon,
Did not get inside (dealership closed) but it looked like a nice ride.
I think the truck looks better in person than photos.
    It had a long bed.
It was wide and long enough to work out of.
$32k for 4 door long bed non-4x4, fully loaded otherwise.
    A little pricey.
You add 4x4 and the price would get high enough that I would start looking full-size.

I'm sure Chevy will have $12k in incentives.

Hopefully. Or else we won't be buying one for my wife for sure. That's whay killed the last of the domestic midsized trucks: Discounting on the full sized trucks that made them have little significant price difference from the full sized trucks.

It would be pretty sweet to have a mid-size truck that lets you lay down a full sheet of plywood/OSB in the bed. I hate that about the Tacomas I've had. I don't haul plywood all the time, but when I do (and it's multiple times a year that I do) it's really frustrating not to be able to load it flush between the wheel wells. Same obstacle obviously applies to sheetrock, veneer panels, etc.

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of it being a midsize truck? Besides, there are slots in the Tacoma bed to lay 2x6's across that create a platform for plywood etc.

    No....
I'm aware of the slots for the 2x6's, and I've used them in the past. However, when I'm carrying sheets of insulation having to set them on the platform (and therefore raising them off of the bed floor) means that I've got that much less space to work with (and therefore a correspondingly lower # of sheets) before they're blocking my rearward visibility.
I'm just saying it'd be nice to have a mid-size truck that'd take a 4x8 sheet of material between the wheel wells. :notsure:

I think what Kirk is saying, is that if it was big enough to lay a 4x8 sheet on the floor of the bed between the wheel wells, it would be too big to be considered a mid-sized truck.

    Shrug.
The exterior dimensions of the newer "midsize" trucks are pretty close to what an older FS truck was. For instance:
My '10 Tacoma is 74 inches wide, but the distance between the wheel wells is only like 40 inches.
My '84 Dodge is 79 inches wide, but you can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood between the wheel wells with an inch to spare on either side.

    :notsure:

    Lol.

I just think it's funny that my Toyota's a mere 5 inches narrower yet somehow gets stuck with 10 fewer inches between the wheel wells.
    Oh well.
