Nope. CR-V has multiplate clutch, which is designed to function open (FWD), locked (4WD), and with slip (front axle driven faster than rear). The GM T-case can't tolerate slip.

Not to mention the fact that it is a GM, who historically try to screw the customer.

snowmanwithahat & TruckFan09 - I did look at full size Ford pick-ups (Raptor not included), and I found myself quickly getting into $50k + range for a Lariat . . . forget the Platinum.
For my every weekend use, the Taco was the best choice "today" . . . would have liked to have seen a 2018 Ranger ( ? ? ? ), since my last two pick-ups were Rangers.

I doubt your taco was $40,000 like the ZR2 that prompted my comment. My point is simply that I'd rather spend a little more for a real performer. Mid size trucks are growing old to me.

My point was that to get a "real performer" you're looking at $14k+ difference. Maybe that's a "little more" to you, but then $40k wouldn't be much either.

Pretty sure Chrysler screws the customer harder. Still, both use a bit more lube than Audi and BMW...

At least your Colorado didn't have the timing chain on the back of the engine. o_O

My 1997 Olds had the water pump in back. But the Colorado "free" repair ended up me getting cheated out of about $2k

^Did water pump replacement require the engine and transmission to be dropped out of the vehicle and separated? ;)

My father's 1996 Caravan had its transmission fail at 8k past the powertrain warranty. There was no mention of any goodwill or extended warranty. Ended up paying $2k to get a rebuilt unit installed at Aamco. During the 2009 auto industry crisis, two of the three Chrysler dealers in my area were shut down. Not surprised.

Don't think so but it was murder to reach..8 hr job at the dealer. It was the Quad 4 engine.

What engine is that you posted?

^Ah, so a transverse engine? I read you can unbolt the front engine mounts to gain a bit more clearance.

The engine I posted is a longitudinal Audi 4.2L V8. The plastic guides for the four (!) timing chains wear out prematurely. German engineering:

Yes transverse but the pump was in the back, not the passenger side as usual. Not sure off my head how it spun, I think it was driven by the timing chain for some reason.

    Great idea Audi..WTF

Ultimately....does it really matter? So much of these types of write-ups are subjective. And subjectivity will always be.....well, subjective :notsure:

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
We think this green apple is pretty good and the red apple is slightly better. That's why we think you should have the orange.

I think the article was pretty accurate on the Tacoma side besides wind noise and over head height. I love my truck anyways. Little confused why towing was really brought into the conversation bc the diesel could tow 1,000 lbs more... but was 2 sec slower from 0-60. They were making comparisons but were not apples to apples.

I don't get the complaints about the ride. I think it is just fine but I went from a '03 Nissan Sentra to a '17 Tacoma so it doesn't take a lot to please me. It's a truck not a Cadillac.
