The Tacoma is a proven vehicle and the demand and resale value supports it. I used to work for Pontiac, which at that time I believe was an outstanding car until our beloved government abolished it. GM is no longer an option for future vehicles for these (3) reasons, bailout, union and recall. Final answer! I will keep an interest on Nissan.

Would anyone really consider a diesel option if it comes out with a price tag close to 40k for a midsize.Plus diesel here in Cali is more expensive than regular unleaded.?Fuel savings is minimal.

    I would. I'd love to see a 3.0 diesel with 240hp and 400trq and 26mpg.
The German SUVs gave been doing this for years it's time fir everyone else to do the same.

Locally gas and diesel are equal.

Really???? I hate dat KLACK,KLACK, KLACK noise diesel engines make.

Especially when Bill Bob leaves that noisy a$$ vehicle running while running in the store to grab another beer and roll of Skoal:(

Even the kid left in the truck is crying cause of the freaking noise

Saw this on one of the GM sites, looks like They are getting ready to start production,

    This from GM....

"The all-new 2015 Colorado will start production soon, and you’ll be able to order the truck that redefines what a mid-size pickup can be beginning July 17th. In order to maximize build quality during production ramp-up, we’ll be introducing Colorado models in three phases. We’ll begin with the Crew Cab Long Box in early September. The 6’ box on this model provides not only the largest cargo volume in the segment, it’s also perfect for carrying bikes[IMG] and other outdoor equipment with the GearOnTM system. Quickly following at the end of September will be the volume-runner, the Crew Cab Short Box with a V6. A few more short weeks and we’ll bring the final phase, the fuel efficient Crew Cab Short Box with a 4-cylinder and all Extended Cab models, arriving at the end of October.

You’ll be amazed at the thoughtful design that went into these trucks, from the refined interiors to the amazing technology to the innovative patented GearOn system, this truck is versatile enough to handle whatever the customer throws at it. So get your orders in early, and help us take back the mid-pickup segment!"

I have been looking daily at my orders to see if it has been picked up

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
As a passenger in a Ford diesel p/u I got a headache within seconds and after a 4-5min ride I couldn't wait to get the fuck out of it.

It's still a GM. No getting around that.

It may come standard with a Thai hooker and the exhaust might smell like roses but I still wouldn't buy one.

Modern diesel engines do not do this using the high pressure common rail injectors.

The new diesels are garbage. The emissions crap sucks. And the new ones don't make sny noise. I have a vw tdi (06) and it's pre emissions and it gets 48 mpg every fill up. Now the new ones get about 38. Loss of 10 mpgs. Also with that the dpf and urea bullshit only lasts 100k. That's suuuuper huge money to change out. Definitely something to consider when buying a new diesel. That's why I don't the a mid sized diesel will catch on.

Just the essentials and no extra fluff.
Toyota needs to ditch the Tacoma and bring the Hilux.

I looked at a few Colorado's before buying my Tacoma and they weren't nearly as nice inside as my base interior Tacoma. Its got manual everything a cassette deck and cloth seats, the Colorado's interior was cheasy and looked like it was coming apart in places

ya its stupid all the things they do to just make it quite too that decreases power. My dad went ahead and toke of the dpf and egr of his 08 F-250 and he said it runs like totally different truck, much much better.

The Nissan Frontier has a couple more options than Tacoma, but realistically it is smaller and imo "ugly" IMO. I think most Toyotas are better looking than Nissans all around. They do have zero gravity seats and Frontier engine is more hp, but I am quite happy with my Tacomas power, function and especially style. I would like to see a moonroof and dual power seats available in the Tacoma.

That'd be kinda cool, but the Hilux is too much truck for the mid size segment. Most buyers in the small truck are looking for a truck that is comfy and won't be used much as a truck.

The Hilux is built to work

And the Tacoma is 20 times better looking than the hilux. The hilux is pretty plane jane kinda like the frontier.

^^^^this. I'd just like them to update the current tacoma (new looks and technology), stuff a diesel in it, and give the front and especially rear seats a little more legroom (mostly the rear......I can deal with the front just fine). You should at least get the same room in the rear seat with the front seat all the way back as if you were sitting in coach of an airline. Otherwise, what's the point of the DC?!?!

Just my opinion, with the mess that chevy has been for almost a decade I bet they will divide just like what happened to ram trucks. Previous to chevy getting bailed out and now all the recalls going back to the late 90,s I considered a duramax, but now Ill never consider one.

For me ist a toyota/honda or nothing. If I ever need a HD diesel truck ill look at the cummins.
