Read page 1 and now going to post, sorry I don't have time to read through the other 10 pages!

My $0.02 is that the Tacoma will always "survive", but the real question is will it continue to be #1?

If Toyota gets off it's ass and does a full update/modernization to the truck then absolutely yes I think it will continue to be #1.

However, if they don't, and continue to just make the usual minor cosmetic changes for the next 5-10 years, then I absolutely believe the Tacoma will fall in the ranks...

My 3500LB boat is well within the Tacoma's capability. Note that I'm sure the boat is also within the Colorado's capability too. My concern isn't just that the vehicle be able to move the boat, but that it do so up the gravel hill to my house at more than a snail's pace.

As I pointed out elsewhere, when I was looking there were no claims of 300HP in the Colorado, just that it was the 3.6L engine, and I've driven that engine in other vehicles and there was no way I thought it capable of doing a decent job up my hill.

I'll believe the 300HP when one beats me from a stoplight.

Chevy inflates the piss out of there power and efficiency numbers. I have loads of chevy friends running around in there new style silverado's screaming about how awesome the 5.3 L is... except they've never been in an ecoboost. None of them tow, everyone who does uses an F150 unless they have bad credit or are broke, in which case they drive a Ram. Everyone who goes ecoboost stays ecoboost, they aren't miraculously fuel efficient but they pull like a diesel! The 10,000 lbs limit on an F150 isn't just a sticker number like on a chevy.

The Colorado will be available as an extended cab with a 6-foot bed, or as a crew cab in 5- or 6-foot bed lengths. Base, LT and the off-road-focused Z71 trims will be offered, all with available four-wheel drive. The base engine will be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. That should be enough for light duties around town and off-road, but for bigger payloads and bigger toys, an available 3.6-liter V6 will make 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque.
Both engines will come with a six-speed automatic transmission enhanced with automatic grade braking and a tow/haul mode. A six-speed manual will also be available on select rear-wheel-drive extended cab models. A 2.8-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder is expected for the 2016 model year.
A properly equipped Colorado is rated to tow up to 7,000 pounds, which is more than the current Tacoma. EPA fuel economy estimates haven't been announced, but a lightweight aluminum hood and active grille shutters that close at highway speeds should help the Colorado achieve better mileage than its predecessor's 26 mpg on the highway.

I am very much considering one. Toyota needs to get off their butt and redesign with new looks and engines and get rid of the weak rear springs the cause take off shudders.

I can't tell you when the beds will start cracking, but they eventually will. Someone with experience in composite material should be addressing this question. I tend to keep vehicles for a long time, so its more of a concern for me than you.

And no way I'm paying 50k for a truck, either.

Exactly, I dumped my EcoBoost mainly because I could no longer stand getting 11-12 mpgs in town. But it was one of the best motors I've ever driven in a truck application. It's whisper quiet at all times, will pull a house off it's foundation. With the 3.73 gearing, it's a hot rod around town and will surprise many so called sport sedans & sport cars that are unsuspecting at a light or merge.

I could go on and on about how much I loved the EcoBoost and the 6R80 trans, but there were soooo many shortcomings that came with the entire package of owning an F-150, that I felt I needed to return back to Toyota.

The new Rigeline looks completely different than the latest generation. I have a feeling its going to take buyers from both sides.

As far as the Colorado is concerned what's the saying "if you put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig" that is what the Colorado was and is even in its new form. It is made so cheaply it is totally ridiculous. Chevy stole a couple of design ideas from Tacoma but still screwed it up. Toyota needs to add a moonroof and dual power seats and maybe a couple of other options and most of us would be very happy.

The new Rigeline looks to be every bit of a "real" truck.

I had to go thru security that made the TSA look like a walk to the mail box. I was happy they let me keep my shoes on. No wallet, watch, sun glasses, phone, etc. Only thing I was allowed to keep on was my wedding ring, and clothing.

I owned a Ridgeline prior to my first tacoma. It was a nice vehicle. It handled extremely well in snow and icy conditions because of it's all wheel drive system. It uses different amounts of power to each wheel via clutch packs and diffs.

It had a very roomy interior. The back seats folded out of the way and I could fit 2 mountain bikes in the rear passenger area.

The rear trunk in the bed was convenient for storing tool bags and valuables.

The downside was the off road capabilities. I would be on service roads that were slightly washed out and it would bottom out an have a hard time getting through. If the road wasn't paved it was always questionable. It was a great daily road vehicle, but I was always kicking myself for not getting a tacoma.

They're not "targeting" the Ram, they're showing maneuverability benefits vs. the larger Ram. The Canyon and Tacoma are nearly the same size, and so it wouldn't be showing a marked difference between the two.
